  • Re max spacers I recall 1 inch for 1 inch steerer is a good rule of thumb.
    ie 25mm.
    l see the tandem is still hanging up in Vaz!

    Noted for spacers. Got more at the moment but it's just a first fix, not ridden yet (won't be a while, so much to sort out on that bike...)

    Re tandem: I hope it doesn't make you feel bad... Let's call it a long term project... But I haven't forgotten about it!

    Columbus seem reluctant to provide proper instructions, but most fork manufacturers seem to have settled on about 50mm of spacers between headset and stem as a maximum. It's very much guesswork on their part if they don't know the length and angle of the stem and the reach and loading of the handlebar. These two are going to impose very different loads on their respective steerers :-)

    In my case stem is quite short (90 mm), and without cutting steerer I have less that 50mm spacers due to tall head tube / big frame.
