Help please?
Looking at framebags for general commuting, and future weekend trips away. Considering the Apidura (sizes quoted), and Restrap (sizes not quoted, are the similar in size to Apidura). Really like the look of the Restrap, but the built 100% in Yorkshire is putting me off.
Recommend others if you've tried em.
Cheers. Jon -

Wildcat are on point for anything.
Super service and quality products, that they stand behind. -

Cheers. Will have a look this evening.

USE alien seatclamps
Not as bad as Cyclops

Cheers, emailed Nathan earlier, he sent me the dimensions over, looks like I'll be getting a little bit of Yorkshire for my bike.
Not racist, just it's made on the wrong side of the border. -

New can stoves made tonight, based on this video. Need for stapler limits making them on the go though.
Tested, they work much better than the knife only one from summer.

Had a dream about a v.cheap pot stand design to lift it a tiny bit, and also a separate windshield /stand that'll also carry the stoves.
Here's the stand. Will share the other once done it'll need some drilling first.

Forum trip? I don't live in London, have little off-road experience and have never done any forum stuff before but I just want to take my cross-check on that journey!
Really nice video, thanks for sharing -

Tonnes of big reductions on compression sacks and straps etc on planet x.
Got a whole bunch of bits for <£15No idea of the quality, brand is pod?
-
• #1765
Pod is half decent. Decathlon sold their okay sleeping bags for a while. £1.99 is banging for a spare bag.

Is there a time limit on PX clearance or is it just on going?

Great stuff. I made a bunch of alcohol stoves, but now I have a RUCAS stove which is a lot tougher than pop-can ones (greater wall thickness). Then I made a three-pointed stand for better stability on rocks, long grass etc, which also insulates it from cold ground (it's a bit fancy looking because I have access to a waterjet cutter, but principle remains unchanged).
Version 2 of the stand will incorporate a priming pan to speed up priming. I think I can get away with much thinner alu with the use of some clever folds.
Alcohol stoves work much, much better with a windshield - mine is just aluminium duct, going from the ground to the top of the pot.
I'd also suggest using a wider, shallower pot rather than the tall-thin ones that seem to be popular these days - alcohol stoves are relatively wider than most canister stoves so a lot of heat escapes up the sides if using a narrow pot.

Just till it goes, I only spotted it a few days after it started and some of the stuff in my basket sold out whilst I was faffing about with other items.
Best thing was the Pod Airstream lite compression sacs, waterproof with an eVent panel so air and "some" moisture can escape. Got a S and a M size, wish I'd got more as they are fantastic, £1.99 each!

Also got a 90litre very lightweight dry bag. Makes a good storage bag for delicate items/down stuff so it can loft but not be eaten by moths/dirt/dust, 99p!
Bunch of 20/25mm webbing straps for 99p as again handy to have around -

Nice bits.
Understand your point about wider pan, i grabbed a saucepan when testing at home and it "holds" the flame much better. Trangia also good example of this.
I'm using an old ghee container as a prototype windshield (& stove/fuel carrier) but am finding the flames bloom out of the lower air inlets I drilled... going to tinker a bit more.

Id like to get a bike packing setup for my 29er. Im after a bar bag, frame bag, and saddle bag. AlpKit do all three as a bundle, but am I better off mixing and matching from other brands?
-
• #1771
Hit up wildcat and get something custom for your frame bag. If you can. I payed full rrp for mine and was happy to do so. After service was great too.
Super helpful and really good quality. If you plan on keeping the bike it's worth the money.
She does handlebar bags too and as for saddle bag. Their dry bag mounting ones are good. A whole bag can be annoying. But that's personal choice.

I can't justify custom, as I can see me getting a different frame at some point. I should have mentioned that I do want a dry bag mount, makes way more sense.

Yeah that's fair.

Cross posting from the Ultracycling thread.
https://www.lfgss.com/comments/12654885/It's not so much ultracycling but I'm looking to see if there's any interest in having a crack at a long distance route up in the Peak District. A chance to test out on+off road setups if you want. Some time in April or May.
yeah, but USE alien seatclamps are one of the worst pieces of engineering ever.
