  • so first patch for FO4 is out... but it's beta. Who wants to live really dangerous ?
Just enable betas in Steam for FO4 and away you go.

    Think I'll wait.

  • Wonder if it's fixed some of the fun graphical glitches I've seen? I've done screenshots and videos now that it's a thing.

  • possibly but given that I know someone who's had all their save games corrupt, I'll give it a miss till it's really released

  • The comment section, wow.

Especially the one who's moaning about having 60fps, very white people.

  • to be fair, it's 2015 and we're talking PCs. 60fps is pretty poor.
Everyone knows it's becuase Bethseda were damn lazy and just reused a 7 year old game engine. When you have things like Witcher 3 around, FO4 looks very dated.

Oh and attaching physics to fps ? tut tut, that's REALLY lazy.

  • Can people really see more than 60fps? Movies are half that or am I going crazy?

Edit: just googled. Good people can see 240+ frames per second. Think my eyes are locked down to about 24. For Cherno.

  • you don't really see fps at all. It's very complicated, but yes I can tell difference between 144 / 60 / 30 . Some people cannot. Feel free to google 30 60 fps ... you'll find lots of stuff.

That said Movies != Video Games. Very very different visual feature set. I wanted a 144 fps monitor but they are quite expensive, 60 is fine but I def notice lower

  • haha you beat me to it. Yeah so 60 is probably a good compromise, but I bet most could see diff with 144 / 60 / 30 ... console players just refuse to admit it ;)

  • 45-60fps is perfectly smooth in my eyes, 30fps is noticeably bad when using PS4/Xbone.

I'm hard pressed to see much difference after going over 60fps tho, probably more noticeable in games like COD.

  • totally, I mean in a game like Witcher 3 you probably wouldn't notice. In an actual shooter, you definitely wood. But the fact is, the hardware can easily do it these days so why are things still tending towards crappy 30fps. It's lazyness, and the fact that console players will just accept it.

  • Hardcore consoling has probably restricted my vision to 30fps

  • Hardcore DayZing has mine limited to 9.

  • so I just read that synths can infiltrate your settlements and pose as settlers.

  • Also...

  • Just got my second set of power armour

  • I've got three sets now, but finding cores are pretty rare. Only got 14 cores :(

  • but finding cores are pretty rare. Only got 14 cores :(

Get easier, I got about 56 cores.

Work best if you're working with all the faction (without triggering the mission that force you to side with one of them).

  • ahh I'm just kinda very early on still. Only level 15. Just got 3 settlements (minutemen) and just done the very first bunch of Brotherhood missions. I got my Science game on so they last much longer now

  • BTW this mission was really enjoyable, this is all I'm gonna says on this subject;

  • Struggling on fallout 4. Low level - walk about for a bit, die, repeat, give up. All the quests seem impossible.

  • To chime in on the FPS talk, I heard what makes the biggest difference in the viewing pleasure, is the consistency of the frames in the second, if they're all evenly spaced then it looks great but obviously you get situations where the frames all get sent in the first 70% of the second and it looks terrible.
I think I read about this when looking up FreeSync/GSync tech for monitors, interesting stuff.

  • I've found all the silver shroud things but haven't found the actual quest yet.

  • That Mirelurk Queen... with two legendary Mirelurks... I was a shell of a man by the end of that (no pun intended)

  • Struggling on fallout 4. Low level - walk about for a bit, die, repeat, give up. All the quests seem impossible.

pick a settlement, scrap every thing in it. build a base (protip: start with the concrete foundations in the wood > floors section. you'll level a few times doing that if you are super low level still. spend the perks on some toughness/endurance type stuff to make you more robust then explore the top 1/4 left only of the map where things arent quite as murder death kill.

oh and if you want to survive in the wasteland you walk everywhere at a crouch turning in a 180 degree arc hitting the vats button every few seconds to warn of upcoming danger.
