Thought of hydraulic, but there is still a lot of rolling around on the floor, and disc rotors are just a bit too much like little finger guillotines for my liking.

Going for these, seem nice quality and good price for a set.

Also, Frog have been a lot more helpful than Isla bikes were, so I am getting the rims through them. Chris king hubs for the balance bike, not sure what for the pedal powered ones, I think I am going to have to get creative with the lacing, not many options for decent hubs for single speed that are 20 hole.

The one getting cranks is old enough to know what she wants, and we have made the decision that telling her she can't have what she wants is both counter-productive, and ignoring the fact that she is a sentient being, who knows what colours she likes. Therefore, this is going to be "pink and purple with rainbow sparkles and glow in the dark words please daddy". Pretty sure she would be just as happy with a £100 Frozen BSO to be honest.
