  • The longer this thread goes on, the less my Shimano RS80s seem to be worth :-)

Anybody looking for some cheap but relatively light skinny 10-speed wheels? Make me an offer. It would help if you could collect from Slough or take delivery somewhere between here and W1.

  • In the summer I was disabused about the notion that they were really good.

  • are hope hubs worth it?

Not really, but then most things aren't if you look at the value for money rationally.

  • But then we tore into Mavic and half of PBP seemed to finish on them later this year.

  • With Hope the freehub is a bit dodgy it was explained to me and the Mavic you can not replace anything obviously.

  • Mavic you can not replace anything obviously.

    In france yes ;)

  • With Hope the freehub is a bit clickyclickyclickyclicky

    it's easy to replace tho

  • New hope pro 4s are about to hit to replace the evo 2 and with a steel cassette they are likely to not chew up like the pro 3 . I like the fact you can strip and re grease with your eyes nearly closed after a few attempts .

  • are they for road caliper brakes though?

  • I've snapped quite a few very beefy levers on those rims. New corsas are always pretty tough the first time but they're awful with all tyres I've found, but get a little better once the tyres been on there for a few months. I actually don't ride them any more in fear of not being able to change a tyre if I puncture. I read somewhere that campagnolo weren't confident enough in their ability to hold tyres at higher pressures so increased the erd by a few mms..

    No sorry 135 disk width

Interesting - thanks for the post, a weight off my mind as I was wondering if it was just me.

I've got a pair of Omega tubular wheels and the tubs went on in seconds - then the clinchers fought hard for what felt like hours.

To your point about punctures- yes, I think that the tubs would be way, way faster to change out on the road.

I'll bang sealant in them and keep my fingers crossed.

  • Does anyone know if the DT Swiss R460 is available cheaper anywhere other than bike24?

    http://www.bike24.com/p2123285.html

    Cheers.

  • Wasn't when I was looking.

  • No. Cheapest for sure and one of the only places that even have them in stock at the moment, I think, in all hole counts.

  • Beat me to it...^^

  • Cheers!

  • Bikediscount.de might be cheaper, I got mine from there, but I can't remember if that was because bike24 didn't have 28h

  • Theyre not made in 20H are they? Ive got some hubs off an aksium wheelset ive been meaning to build up

  • Theyre not made in 20H are they?

They're not sold in 20H, although it seems to be the same rim as the R23 wheels which do have a 20H front. DT now have a 32mm deep 22mm wide rim called RR511 which is available in 20H, and the Superstar Pave/Kinlin XC279 is available in 20H too.

  • Has anyone tried Wiggle's Cosine wheels yet?

Pretty light wheelset for this kind of £££

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/cosine-23mm-alloy-clincher-disc-brake-road-wheelset/

  • What's the go-to Novatec 11 speed non disc hubset? For a lightish summer wheelset involving SL23s or Ryde Pulse Comps

  • 1485g is v. light

But is it true? And if it is, what have they compromised to hit that weight? You don't get owt for nowt.

  • They just corrected the weight for the disc brake version from 1,506g til 1,610g.
