This is what begged the question. I tried to handsling a mate once, he pretty much stayed put and i went into the verge, over the bars and into a ditch. I haven't given it another go.

Handslinging clearly looks easier than it actually is. I'm sure practice makes perfect but only attempt it if you have ready access to honey. Health and safety - everyone's responsibility.

I handslung a mate of mine about 20 years ago. We got it a bit wrong. Somehow or other he did get past me but he got a wobble on and his front wheel folded in half. So this was the day we (he) discovered that honey was very good for gravel rash.
