Mildest November in my memory, loving it..
Yet to put my gloves on. Though it's supposed to get fucking freezing at the weekend.

Re: Barney, I rode home from Holborn last night at about 10 and it was AMAZING. Epic tailwind heading east.
But I still think giving British storms names is stupid.

Hope you're riding somewhere sheltered today...

Hah. Em. Right so I got up early and rode to vauxhall station in the snow / sleet to get a train to Dorking which it turns out South West trains could not deliver.
My favorite bit was when the train to guildford, that we were trying to get instead, proceeded past the huddle of cold and angry passengers to the exposed part of the platform, and the conductor got out of the train, and in his most abusive tone possible, demanded that the passengers run to the other end of the train, in the freezing rain, to board it.
Such. A. Cunt.

I took 23 minutes from Balham to Clapton on Wednesday night. One of the best tailwinds I can remember in London, plus a green wave, hardly had to stop anywhere.

I had a green wave too, which yes made it even more fun.
Garmin measured ride average of 3.3°C today, with a low of 2°C. And that was leaving at 1pm.
When I got in my external thermometer at home said 5°C, although it's now dropped to 4°C. Odd because they're normally both accurate, so can only conclude it's colder out in Essex.

That's normal, no? Cities are warmer due to the heated buildings leaking heat and raising the air temperature.
-
• #7262
That should do as good as any other explanation.
-
• #7263
Yes I guess so, nearly two degrees seemed a bigger difference than normal though. Was also forecast to be six.
Could also be wind chill I suppose, would a Garmin get wind chill?
I was taught in GCSE Geography that urban heat islands are caused by concrete retaining heat, rather than leaky buildings, but I have no idea really.
Going to be a cold one tonight anyway.

Get a taxi ;-)
-
• #7265
Maybe I could use it to make your deliveries? :P
Seriously though out tonight but could do a delivery tomorrow if you want.
-
• #7266
The thermometer outside my house said -7°C when I looked at it at about 1pm. I assume this means that my house is leaking cold.
:(
-
• #7267
I think that means you need a new thermometer :)
-
• #7268
Get a car yet? We could go into the countryside for cake and coffee ;-)
-
• #7269
It was 34°c here yesterday, people telling me that that is a walk in the park and that I should wait til Jan and Feb to see some proper temperatures has made me more than a little trepidatious... 😨

My street is presently going through what can only be described as a carwash.
Only 37 sleeps
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
