I'd have thought a flashing light is a lot more likely to draw the eye than constant?
It gets attention, but then it's hard to work out how far away it is
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=judging+distance+of+flashing+lightIf you want drivers to know that something exists in front of them them, a flashing light is fine, but if you want them to know what it is and how far away/how rapidly they are closing the gap, you need more than just an intermittent point source.
Re. the hate on flashing rears, is there something to that beyond personal gripes that I'm missing? I'd have thought a flashing light is a lot more likely to draw the eye than constant? Surely that's the most important thing?
