Out of the ones I've used I'd rate sound quality as
Minirig
Cambridge audio go
Bose sound link mini
Pure Jaw (or JoJo or similar)
Bose sound link colour
JBL Flip
JBL clipThe jbl were way down compared to the others, but they are noticeably smaller.
The Bose sound link mini is probably best for the size. Minirig best overall. I probably wouldn't have bought the Bluetooth minirig at the price it's at if I hadn't first bought the wired one (about eighty quid at the time) a few years ago and used it.
If portable is just a bonus though I'd be tempted to go for a small amp and bookshelf speakers which will be better than them all.

Cheers for this. I'm confused now, because I've heard minirigs before and never been particularly impressed by them, and certainly didn't expect them to be that price! Could I have seen an earlier, less impressive incarnation? I think I need to go into a shop and listen to some. The Bose soundlink mini currently probably topping the list for me based purely on looks and reviews.
This is pertinent to me as well as I'm looking for a Bluetooth speaker to provide music/quality radio streaming sound in a small room. Portable is a bonus. Having mains power is helpful but can always put a USB charger in permanently I guess if needs be. Is there a real, appreciable advantage in the £150+ offerings vs this £35 option? I am no audiophile, but I want something more sonically satisfying than a minirig. Any recommendations much appreciated.
