Thats bollocks - you went out and got one that was (supposedly) in great condition, now it looks like you'd have been better off just getting the cheapest that was the right age.

So went and drove a couple of forester XTs yesterday.
The more expensive one had a massive misfire as it hit boost, so that was not so good, but the cheaper one was nice. 67000 miles and £4500, pretty sure I'm going to buy it.
Also leaves a chunk in the budget for some repairs, tyres and some fun bits.

Yeah, it is a bit poo, but it not as bad as it sounds. The floor pans are good, as are the wings and the opening panels. We just need to replace the sills and patch the tunnel.
I'd have spotted the the boot and the shit welding in the floor. It's not me on the hook for the purchase price, though.

Face guard and angle grinder with power button lock.
My honest advice is soda blast, it really is as easy as the video's show. The soda leaves a coating to prevent rust and doesn't generate heat in the panel that causes distortions.

Wasn't there a steering wheel that was removable as an anti theft device?

Dark grey wheels on it. Blackened chrome trim and some choice parts and that will look Ace. Poss just a sensor on the other one but if previous Has been driving it around like that could be like grilled cheese ontop of the pistons

Totally soda blast it, mate hired one to bottom out a mk1 uno turbo shell. Found plenty of holes very quickly vs. the wire wheel/ brush abrasives, poss decided on that as there had been a previous restoration and they had bonded sound matt stuff everywhere with a shellac type substance, nightmare to get off and it had harboured moisture

I shall have to give it a go off road! I just use it for my 5 mile commute. I would cycle but I'm too lazy. Any idea where they got their roof rack from, would you ask?

I had one when I had a dished steering wheel, but I don't need it with my flat steering wheel. My seat is fixed and I'm super short so I couldn't get in and out without removing the wheel or kind of sliding underneath it and falling out of the car.

You only every do that once, never again!

Harness bar turned up so I can fit my harness in the car, should be much better on track.
I lowered the ride height after fitting the 15" Compomotives, but unfortunately that's wrecked my wing again so now I need to get it re-flared and rolled and smoothed over.

aint no amount of dollar gonna save that 912. Well, not that I can imagine. Looks pretty far gone.
-
• #25349
Oh, and the Alfa, for sure.
-
• #25350
thats the most destroyed classic I've ever seen.
Only salvageable parts I can see are '912' badge and drivers door window handle. Possibly some engine internals but unlikely.
Accident damage
