Regular Ergons are better in rain, but the cork ones are still good enough down to the rubber bits and the shape itself.

I've had no problems with mine, they take a bit to wear in though.

Shame the massive wicker basket is missing.

I'm more worried about the angle of that saddle.

I've no complaints. Admittedly not as tacky as my ODI Ruffians on the MTB, but certainly not slippery. No white knuckle gripping needed to hand on!

Woot woot... Got a soft spot for Orrells-had an identical frame in Londahn in 531c for honking about on with my work tools strapped on. Was a very fun/loved bike indeed and I let it go for a fucking song... boo.

At the time there was not much choice of chainring sizes, White Industries offer a big range allowing you to go as low as 44/28 (and lower) than sticking to the standard 50/34 which is a little high.

I thought they might be TA Carmina, but the spindle end of the crank is not quite right. The Carmina's are lush though.

At what time? 5000 years ago?
Chainsets with low BCDs have been around for ages. Likewise chainrings of numerous sizes. Fom large manufacturers too.

I'm sure he means ones for modern shifting systems, ramped, pinned, for 10+ speed chains. Of those there's precious few that allow you to run a double chainring setup with a smaller than 34t inner ring, e.g. the Sugino Ox range, the White up above.

What bolt-thru forks are there out there other than the Whiskey No7 and the TRP?
I had good experience with the Ergon cork in all weather. Comfortable. The cork rubber isn't as durable as normal rubber as far as tear resistance if crashed or otherwise traumatized.
