Is there anything special about them or are they just generally good? I have used mks njs ones in the past and they lasted well. The problem I was having was that my left foot would slip out of the cage while doing skids. I don't get this with the straps. I have a feeling though that it might of just been technique.

The shape is slightly more box like at the front which suited adidas spezials I wear better. I think the variables equally affect the fit. The ducson clips are on all my bikes currently, but the straps vary, on my cliff shrubb I have some old skl Alfredo Binda straps attached to some campag pedals which give a much firmer/tighter fit and help keep my feet firmly in one place during the rotation which is better for more prolonged riding, not so good for stopping and starting. But on the Ume (daily ride) I have some mks flat pedals x Silva straps which are flatter and offer a bit more support and I find the straps produce less friction which helps when going in and out of the pedals at lights. Shoe wise maybe something similar to the Adidas Gazelles maybe better than the very thin spezials. Also, I have the left straps tighter than my right as that is my leading foot for some reason even though im right footed and I hardly ever find the need to have both feet out during general riding.

Have a look at this photo, https://www.flickr.com/photos/110135386@N05/19781785518/
I think some Gazelles or something similar in height could fit nicely as there is a good few mm of space in the front of the cages. Sorry for the essay btw. I cant sleep.. :-( -

Cheers for the info, going to swap some stuff around so I can run the mks pedals I have with the mks cages and cheapish straps. If I have issues I'll try the cages you suggested and maybe look for some decent straps.
I'm the same as you! I take my right foot out when I stop. With cages I normally tighten the left foot as much as possible and have the right loose enough to pull out when stopping. I guess it's just about trying some different combinations until I find the perfect one

This is on eBay and I think I might buy it. Was planning on selling my Rychtarski road bike but I've kind of realised that a road bike might be useful for longer rides. If I can get this cheap I'll swap the frames and we can go back to Neil double trouble.

+1 for seeing the return of double trouble

as I understand you can buy the struts independently. But I reckon swinging by/an email from where you got it from will get you some new ones pronto as guarantee.

There's a cross frame over on Retro bike which was listed yesterday. Very similar to the one I just bought. No other Neil's for sale at the moment that I'm aware of

Many many people have dibs'd white Neil if you decide to sell?
-
• #97
Yeah, there are at least 5 or 6. I have no intentions of selling it soon though, the frame is so good to ride

Martac and White neil r win
I agree, I've had mixed results with clips and straps before, though I think it's because I needed deeper cages. Might keep an eye out for some decent ones
