Candle Cafe is good for vegan food. I've only been to the one on the Upper East side (79th street) but keen to try the other one at some point. Bit pricey but very tasty and nice atmosphere downstairs at the bar.

King Kog is run by some nice guys happy to have a chat, but they didn't have much to look at stock wise, but that was a few years ago, my King Kog cycling cap is still my favourite, I'll be getting another when in in NY in Jan.
Chari have lots of nice bling stuff to look at, but there a bit too cool for skool, or at least they think they are.
How about http://brooklynmachineworks.com

If you visit BMW, go to Champs Diner after (2 blocks west) and feast on tofu scramble burritos, stacks of pancakes and waffles, all vegan :)

RA Cycles is bike porn in real life. Maglia Rosa is similar porny with good espresso, but Red Lantern has a nicer vibe, a great shop cat, and $3 PBRs.
Champs is divisive, but Bunna (vegan) Cafe is also near BMW and it is absolutely excellent. You can pretty much try the whole menu for $15.

You'll obviously need to ride your bike a lot between all these food locations. :)
Right ya'll,
I need your advice and knowledge on the NYC bike culture-
What are some of the most reputed/iconic bike shops/cafes?
Ta!
