Cheers for the info, going to swap some stuff around so I can run the mks pedals I have with the mks cages and cheapish straps. If I have issues I'll try the cages you suggested and maybe look for some decent straps.
I'm the same as you! I take my right foot out when I stop. With cages I normally tighten the left foot as much as possible and have the right loose enough to pull out when stopping. I guess it's just about trying some different combinations until I find the perfect one
The shape is slightly more box like at the front which suited adidas spezials I wear better. I think the variables equally affect the fit. The ducson clips are on all my bikes currently, but the straps vary, on my cliff shrubb I have some old skl Alfredo Binda straps attached to some campag pedals which give a much firmer/tighter fit and help keep my feet firmly in one place during the rotation which is better for more prolonged riding, not so good for stopping and starting. But on the Ume (daily ride) I have some mks flat pedals x Silva straps which are flatter and offer a bit more support and I find the straps produce less friction which helps when going in and out of the pedals at lights. Shoe wise maybe something similar to the Adidas Gazelles maybe better than the very thin spezials. Also, I have the left straps tighter than my right as that is my leading foot for some reason even though im right footed and I hardly ever find the need to have both feet out during general riding.
