I set myself the challenge of trying to offend Miro more than anyone else today:

White bar tape.
Don't be tempted by the ease of black.
It must be white.

Took photo, rotated bars down a bit, now I have errands to run - still a lot of detail to finish off.

^they're not in the same position!
Nice looking bike Neil, did have a concern that you were gonna knock the pump off mid build and dent/chip the frame

BR-6401 are correct for 1990, that and I could only find non-aero in NOS condition.
If anyone spots the aero ones in NOS condition do please let me know.

Sorted out the bar angle, I have noticed (super annoying, this) that I've fitted the headset cups with the grease ports un-aligned with one another.
Also this bartape is for shit - way too thick, so it's likely to see the bin shortly.

Would this have had cloth tape in 1990?
-

Cinelli cork tape has been around since 1987

Prior to that bike ribbon or Benotto tape would have been de rigueur
-
• #373
nice build so far, but are you planning to keep the brake cables in front of the handlebar?
-
• #374
Is that a faux pas? I've never set them up before and the last bike I had them on was ~25 years ago.

This doesent look bad and is washable: http://road.cc/content/review/117885-esi-grips-rct-wrap-bar-tape
Seen in white on scoble's bike. You can chuck it in washing machine an re-use.
agreed, the adjective clumsy springs to mind; too much inelegant tubing, not helped by 650b wheels (?!)
would suit hammered fenders, porteur, ect..
