  • @BigH I was gunna say, is that Dozer Carter, then I checked your tumblr. Gospel Oak represent.

  • @BigH some really nice photos man, guessing you follow timc as well. Noticed some similar spots in some of your shots

  • Thanks boss :-) Yeah man they both my guys from the ends. Othasoul are supporting Talib Kweli and I am trying to get AAA to shoot them and Talib. If your free on thursday the 19th you should come down if to the Jazz Cafe, gonna be live!

  • @BigH saaaafe you must be from near me too then! where abouts do you live? ill definitely head down to that if im free. I saw them a couple summers back in Queens Crescent at some little music festival, they were predictably sick

  • I have the opportunity to buy some 30 rolls of Portra 800 expired early 2013 kept in basement which I presume would be cold enough maybe. Do you think its worth £120/£4 per roll?

  • 35mm or 120? Either way I imagine you could buy them at that price and sell half of them on eBay in smaller lots and make your money back. Last time I looked people were looking for £15 for a single roll of fresh Portra 800 in 35mm.

  • 120 film, not a bad shout in re selling but would be better to keep them and use them myself :-)
Do you think a couple years out of expiry date will affect it much?

  • Nice one Tina! Great colour.

  • Last time I looked people were looking for £15 for a single roll of fresh Portra 800 in 35mm.

Can't believe it's that expensive in the UK, but if it really is you might as well mail-order it from Foto Impex in Berlin (£7.10 per roll, plus shipping) or try eBay Germany?

  • Do you think a couple years out of expiry date will affect it much?

If it really has been stored in a cool enviroment the whole time it probably doesn't matter much, though high-ISO film is generally more sensible I think.
Personally I wouldn't risk buying 30 rolls of the stuff.

By the way I like the last post on your tumblr a lot, just do not get why you make the effort of shooting medium format, and then not scanning properly (you have access to a Flextight you said??)..

    Cheers.

  • Thanks man, glad you like it..

  • Anyone here interested in a Minolta 7000i body, good working condition apart from the shutter speed display in the finder doesn't show fully. I've upgraded to the Dynax 7 so keeping the lenses. Looking for £20 plus postage.

Here are a load of photos I took with it: https://flic.kr/s/aHsk9B5a3k

A mount lenses are plentiful and cheap on ebay.

  • Im gonna look into going halves with someone as I think it might be useful to have in the future.

Thank you, much appreciated :-) Nearly all of the previous posts are 35mm then scanned using the epson 750 flatbeds which I hated (they only just got the v850's in) then using photoshop and then sizing down to 10mb. I only just got granted access to the FT and am currently in the process of archiving the majority of my negatives so some will be reposted. The most recent 120 shots posted are scanned with the FT and I don't seem to see anything wrong with them? can you point out any that you have noticed in particular?

I can see a few 35mm posts already that are pretty badly scanned/edited and will be going through the posts checking and deleting them. This one is 35mm and scanned on the FT so when I look back through the quality of the others you can really tell how bad they are :-(

  • Yea, some of the 35mm ones are quite rough (quite possibly due to bad scanning with the flatbeds), but I was referring to the last one on your tumblr, which, for some reason, I assumed was shot with the Mamiya - and made me wonder why image quality isn't better.
Sorry for the confusion. For 35mm (and especially for 35mm black&white film) scanned with a 750 it's pretty good.

  • OM4, Fuji Pro 400h - I think I prefer these results to my most recent portra ones!

    More coming up on http://imdabestmayne.tumblr.com

  • posting this because of the general weirdness of...to me looks like X-Ray fish attacking from the sky...instead of me getting a wet arm to the shoulder.....and including myself in pic.

Plus ...even statues need a dig.(bad ex junkie joke )

found out later they are called X-ray Carp...even weirder ..

  • Very nice ...echoes of my favourite photographer ....Mr Moriyama

  • Fuji Pro 400h

    Some nice shots!

It keeps surprising me how different Portra 400 and Fuji Pro 400H look.

  • Pro 400h seems a tough grainier but I prefer the colours I think. Portra is also a bit funny in the shadows. It never drops off to pure black very well and comes out a little odd in high contrast lighting (the scans I get may be the fault here obviously).

  • ^^ ..ha - just realized I actually didn't shoot this on film, but with a Canon 60D..

  • I assume you were testing us Tina...... and we failed!

1st scans back from Dynax 7, proof that fancy camera's don't make for fancy photographs.
