That clamp looks proper tough.
I have and recommend a speedy stitcher, but I think the reference to it in this thread was made by @General_Lucifer.

Won eBay auction on Sunday, this arrived today at work... £15 posted including postage, and unless I misread the guy said support wouldn't be included but he sent it... Really pleased! There's quite a project of repairs to be done, but, as recommended by @withered_preacher, I also bought a speedy stitcher...
It's in a quite sad state, I'm tempted to throw it in washing machine and re wax cotton and re grease leather... But afraid of damaging it...
Anyway, what's Sue's grand mother's name so I can update list?
