  • Recently acquired this 60cm Sintex with SPX tubeset that I'm pretty pleased with. Excuse the mish-mash of parts; going to slowly buy up a nice (geared) groupset for it over the winter:

  • That is a beaut. Do you have any more images?

  • did you get that off here recently?

  • Yeah, I paid a bit more than the price he was asking for in the thread as didn't want to take the p*ss. I think it was fair considering it could really do with a full renovation. I'll ride it over the winter then cost it up. Full chrome rear stays is going to be £££ though :(

  • Now have second one on it's way from Italy: Same size, lesser grade tubes. Will report back in Spring when both builds are (hopefully) finished.

  • So the above has now arrived and is minus the seat binder bolt. Does anyone know a good place to start looking for a bolt like the one below? Also, The first Sintex has a slightly larger clamp area and a small recess for the binder bolt. Anyone have any ideas why they would be different? Ta

  • Just get a 19mm seatbinder bolt (they're very common and very cheap) with a notch and carefuly file the notch away.

Or get an overpriced Retro/Campagnolo seatbinder bolt.

  • File.

    Cheers!

  • Just picked up a frame I believe to be an Olmo, bb says 0694/62. I know the 62 is the frame size, but do you think 6 is June, and 1994? It's steel, lugged and has internal cable routing on the top tube. Any thoughts, I can post pics.

  • Think I saw this this on eBay recently and asked the seller to add the BB info (it's been painted purple/burgundy)? If so, definitely an Olmo, I only didn't purchase as it turned out to be 62cm rather than 60 as listed.

As far as I'm aware, not really any reliable way to date an Olmo from the serial... someone may know more than me though.

  • Yeah, that's the one. The fact it is a 62cm is why I went for it. I'll get pics up today, what detail would help identify it?

  • Good work. Nice looking frame at a decent price. My other thoughts were if the fork was original for the frame as the steerer looked to be rather long. Did you receive it yet?

  • The forks steerer is huge! I managed to bag it for well under the offer price, made a cheeky wee offer. The frame looks good, doesn't appear to be any rust, other than a few bit of very superficial rust where the paint has flaked off. I thought the fork looked like one found on the giro models?

  • Purple is sparkly, and you can see the flakes. Planning on getting it re-sprayed. Seat clamp looks like 26.8mm, where would I get a seat post bolt?

  • Done:) very interesting product! Good luck for your project!!

  • Get yourself in a relevant sub forum / place and never darken the doors of this one again with such nonsense!

  • Do you need a new designer? It looks like you do...

  • Thank you Laura :)
Sorry I didn't mean to bother you.

  • I'm a bit slow, what did he mean by a "notch"?

  • The bit poking out on the left hand side, therefore not allowing for it to sit flush:

  • ones above can be had for about 2 quid, I have also found this one, which looks like it doesn't have a notch for £7, but may be worth checking with them first:
