  • A bike-on-bike crash resulting in critical injuries:

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/cyclist-critical-after-collision-with-another-rider-in-south-west-london-a3110646.html

Fingers crossed he survives this, but it doesn't sound good.

    Edit: He has since died.

  • Fuck. Road past that junction not even an hour ago. Hope he pulls through.

  • Bugger. Rode past this not long after it happened. Couldn't tell how serious at the time as could see no vehicles obviously involved. Already two fast response paramedic vehicles had shut the road. Best of luck to him for the coming days...

  • Sadly he has died.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Merton Traffic Garage are investigating.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information concerning the incident is urged to call detectives from the Roads and Transport Policing Command on 020 8543 5157 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  • I rode past minutes after this had happened. Tragic news.

  • I also rode past just after it happened, before the ambulance arrived (there was a guy calling as I rode past) . I didn't want to hang around, as I didn't witness it, there were plenty of people on the case, and there was nothing I could do to help. From what I saw, it didn't look too bad. I'm absolutely shocked that there was a fatality.

    RIP Rider

  • So sad. I have to say I thought the initial report sounded ominous. Updated Standard piece:

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/cyclist-60-dies-in-hospital-after-crash-with-another-rider-a3111796.html

    RIP (as yet) unknown rider.

  • rip

  • As at @Rhodrich said, I'm shocked as it just didn't look that bad. Rest in peace.

  • RIP cyclist, condolences to family and friends

  • That's terrible. I must have ridden through there not long before it happened. RIP, v sad news.

  • I was just thinking how good it was that we hadn't had the black logo for a long time.

Such a shame - thoughts with the riders' family and friends..

  • Black Logo :(

    RIP

  • Tragic. RIP rider.

  • RIP rider - thoughts to your loved ones

It shouldn't make a difference, but I was another one who must have passed by within just minutes of this happening. Really brings it home.

  • RIP x

  • The second cyclist, a 25-year-old man, stopped at the scene and sustained minor injuries.

    who was this person?

    what were they doing?

are they known to the forum?

    what bicycle were they riding?

(did they have a front brake?)

    ...

  • "The [25yr old and 60 yr-old] collided in New King's Road at the junction with Grimston Road"

    #grim

    RIP 60-year-old stalwart

    memorial ride?

what's the name of the 60-yr-old who has passed-away from this life, into the beyond?

gone, but never to be forgotten,

we need plaques, to mark every death,

happy to contribute to a craftsman of the forum who can make such a thang,

    x

  • This is hardly the place for speculation and suggestions, there is a protocol in these threads for a reason.

RIP rider, thoughts with his family.

The other rider, like most involved in road traffic accidents, presumably also did not set out to cause someone's death, and presumably also isn't in a great place at the moment.

  • R.I.P. Rider

  • RIP, indeed.

  • Sorry news. RIP.

  • RIP rider. Awful news.

I ride that way a couple of times a week - will be thinking of you a lot.

  • RIP rider. Sad news.
