2015-11-09 Rider down (Fatality), New King's Road

A bike-on-bike crash resulting in critical injuries:

Fingers crossed he survives this, but it doesn't sound good.

Edit: He has since died.

Fuck. Road past that junction not even an hour ago. Hope he pulls through.

Bugger. Rode past this not long after it happened. Couldn't tell how serious at the time as could see no vehicles obviously involved. Already two fast response paramedic vehicles had shut the road. Best of luck to him for the coming days...

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Merton Traffic Garage are investigating.

I rode past minutes after this had happened. Tragic news.

I also rode past just after it happened, before the ambulance arrived (there was a guy calling as I rode past) . I didn't want to hang around, as I didn't witness it, there were plenty of people on the case, and there was nothing I could do to help. From what I saw, it didn't look too bad. I'm absolutely shocked that there was a fatality.

what were they doing?

are they known to the forum?

what bicycle were they riding?

(did they have a front brake?)

The other rider, like most involved in road traffic accidents, presumably also did not set out to cause someone's death, and presumably also isn't in a great place at the moment.
