  • That's your idea of the A line?

    Wtf

  • It was deemed technical enough (or not enough of a time advantage for the associated risk) to be avoided by a fair amount of the elite men, and almost all of the elite women.

A-line/ chicken line comes from mountain biking, not usually seen in cross. A-lines being technically challenging, chicken lines being a rollable, (usually) slower alternative.

  • Chicken line is also a phrase that needs to die

  • ^ takes chicken lines

  • I get the concept of an A line, I just didn't think that was it.

  • The explanation was in response to @T-V's enquiry.

Regardless of what it's called, or whether it matches Rampage standards, that was the tougher line.

The European Championship, this weekend, has a "chicken run." They don't do that in Europe, right? #cyclocross #ek

  • Thanks for the explanation. I guess the A line is only faster if you don't plant on your face.

  • I used to do those on Friday pm . By Saturday am I was banging the A lines.

  • All this talk of banging lines on a Friday night makes me think this is a banker/trader thread.

  • That's OK tho. I'd expect you'd avoid a 10 foot drop-off in Morzine too whilst riding a hardtail. Trouble is, people do take the A-lines, way beyond their ability, and then break themselves because they've been conditioned that the B-line is for 'chickens'.

  • Fast line / A-line in that specific race was as above. B-line / slow line was going around/behind that tree on the right.

  • I've registered, but does anyone know if I should I have received any sort of email from Rapha about schedules for tomorrow? I know the times of the race, so I guess just turn up an hour or so beforehand but is there anything else I need to know?

  • Got a "rider briefing" email last night - importation parts below:

"We have updated the race times. Each race is 30 minutes long.

    10:30 – U8
    10:45 – U10
    11:00 – U12
    11:30 – Youth/Junior
    12:15 – Women (including youth/junior)
    13:00 – 50+ men
    13:45 – 45-49 men
    14:30 – 40-44 men
    15:15 – 35-39 men
    16:00 – 30-34 men
    16:45 – U23-29
    17:30 – Elite
    18:15 – Fun
    19:00 – Final podium presentations.

Sign on will be in the event village at Cubitt Square, which is on the left hand side of Stable Street. Registration for each category opens from 2 hours before the race and closes 30 minutes before the start."

  • Anyone doing the East Kent CX on Sunday?

  • Going to swap tyres for Rapha Super Cross, any recommendations for a fast inexpensive tyre for road around 32-33 and crucially available centrally??

  • Would you like something that will let you know when it is on the limit or just let go in the wet?

  • Incredibly Cross Round 2 location for Sunday... http://goo.gl/maps/Jn7Qa

  • Looking at the forecast, something that indicates the limit!

  • Location looks good for Incredibly Cross!

  • This weekend is going to be good, Supercross today, Incredibly Cross tomorrow!!

  • Supercross sounds like a bit of a shambles if the Internet moans are anything to go by.

  • Supercross now cancelled. Still, Incredibly Cross tomorrow!

  • Cyclocross cancelled because of bad weather wtf?! #suchroadies

  • Only mad people ride in the rain...
