@Tenderloin @youramericanlover sorry I missed your post before guys. If you PM me all the new details I can get them swapped over including email address and you'll get the rider info email tomorrow.

  • So excited. Can't wait.

Bruising has started to develop from PORC.

  • Hah, nice. Slicks it is.

  • That's amazing. How did that make it through!?!

  • The short version is that the author heavily rehashed the press release and added some stuff by searching for "supercross" which is more commonly a motorsport term.

  • I'm really jealous now. I wish I were coming down to London to race this. I will just have to console myself by riding round a castle instead.

  • i find myself with awkward bike options.. is fixed with front brake allowed?

  • Two working brakes required I'm afraid. So fixed with two brakes, yes.

  • This from Twitter

  • Such a shame that with all Rapha's money and influence they come up with a 30minute race round a car-park to show "cyclocross" to London. The rest of the world gets full-on UCI classified Super Cross races and we get something that is so far from cyclocross it isn't even BC sanctioned...

  • Not quite a race round a car park, it even goes through a building. Admittedly not much soft stuff but I find it hard to fault too far Rapha for trying their hand at an urban cross.

They've demonstrated they know how to do muddy cross very well so why shouldn't they challenge themselves. And SFW if it isn't BC sanctioned. BC aren't and shouldn't be the be all and end all of bike racing in this country.

  • To be fair, they did stage a two day event in Yorkshire. It's unusual that London gets the rough end of any deal.

  • They've done 'real' cross at Ally Pally the last couple of years

  • The rest of the rapha races were proper cross, I think that's the point.

This looks fun, to a certain level of fun, but the point I think is: if the other world wide rapha races were proper cross, why did London(brand home)/get 30 minutes around kings cross as its event? Couldn't there have been this as a.spin off?

  • if the other world wide rapha races were proper cross, why did London(brand home)/get 30 minutes around kings cross as its event?

I think the person who was leading the supercross stuff passed the baton on to someone who's base is oop norf - hence the two day event in Yorkshire. I think that, the cost of running a 'proper' London event at a suitable outdoor venue and the density of the London / Southeast cross calendar reduced Rapha's appetite somewhat for a showcase event down south. Still, they've put something on, and it looks interesting, and hopefully there will be chips, beer and smiles. I'm sure @scoot can correct / fill in any gaps if I'm making stuff up.

  • There are shedloads of proper central London potential venues.
I don't believe that Raoha are challenging themselves, they've got the organiser of the Morvelo Citycross events to do their UK Supercrosses. She has done a great job by the looks of it and I'm not knocking the events per se, the more bike races the better but it is out of kilter with their other super cross races.

  • Chips and beer? I might come and watch then!

  • I've no dog in this fight, I wouldn't have raced either event due to diary things, I was trying to articulate "why did all the other venues get " proper" cross while brand home onlybgot 30mins".
The point about cost is a good one, I'm sure ally pally isn't cheap.

  • If people are suffering mud withdrawals at Supercross on Saturday then Incredibly Cross should offer some remedy to this on Sunday.

  • Is there a designated non-racing forum meetup spot?

  • I have this suspicion that a lot of the other potential central London venues aren't quite as easy to secure as might be hoped.

  • As an aside from all the urban cross/not-cross controversy, here's Venturini hucking the A-line at Huijbergen last weekend.

  • Novice question - what is the a line and what is the chicken line?
