Anyone know where I can lay my hands on a metric 23.0 x 1.0 thread tap please? Sorry for spamming this thread and starting my own ...
-
• #72154
Really? I have lots of saddle layback and svelte hips and never had a problem

Just one more thing - if you do get one, ditch the stock pads, as they're sh1te (must be for mag wheels or something?).

Marathon back, Gator front.
You don't need that much layers on the front.

Thanks @andy_k, I'd not found Tracytools yet.
Can anyone tell me which one or ones I'd need? Don't understand what taper, 2nd and plug taps are. Are all three needed to cut a finished thread?
-
• #72159
Are you cutting a new thread or cleaning up and old one?
Can you put the tap all the way through the material like a nut or is it a blind hole.
If the former and you are cleaning up a thread any of the taps will do as long as you run it right thru. If a blind hole best with all three.
The taper tap is to start the thread , 2nd as its name implies is used next and finallly a plug tap to go all the way to the bottom of the hole.

any experience of the Arundel Uno?
I've used an arundel tubi to carry a spare tub for years and it's great. No thigh rub as it straps round the saddle rails but not the seatpost. I'd imagine this is the same but smaller.

Can anybody help, I bought a 2nd hand garmin, and stupidly, assumed he would have deleted his data. I mean, why wouldn't you? Especially with how some people treasure their koms. Anyway, went to upload todays teeny commute, and it's only gone and uploaded all the guys rides since 2012. Is there a way I can delete all the rides associated to that device without having to go through and look at every one?

I'm not sure that a tap is definitively the way to go for what you want. It might be worth asking your local CNC machinist if they can thread mill your cranks instead. Fixturing is going to a PITA either way, especially for the NDS, and threadmilling will have much lower cutting loads than a great big tap, so you're less likely to rip the crank out of the vice.

I've got a very lightly used dura-ace 10spd chain, (HG CN-7901), do I really need the special Shimano linking pin or can I use a split link e.g. Wipperman?

Threading and deburring in one operation, sick tunes too.

AZFS22C finis is 3966269. It is a special order part through Ford from the US. All Ford dealers can source US parts but I think most parts counters can't be bothered to do it.
Might be worth trying http://www.finisfinder.co.uk
What car are they for? Why not use NGK plugs?
-
• #72166
No; yes.

• #72167
It's for a 2002 2.0L Zetec Focus (DOHC), I'm doing one of my annual engine bay sweeps and checking hoses, cables, plugs etc. All the Americans reckon for the 2.0L (known there as a ZX3 and in Australia as an LR Zetec) that the AZFS22C which is used in forced induction applications is just as suitable in N/A applications, gapped to 0.06" and with upgraded HT leads. The plug itself is one step colder than stock plugs. It's a copper electrode, so there is no NGK/Champion equivalent as all other manufacturers use Iridium or something else.
Given that it's touted on the American forums as one of the cheapest mods ($8!!) to improve idle and engine smoothness I thought I might get in on it. Turns out it's not as easy as I thought being outside of USA!
Got any other ideas? Just stick to a stock single prong good quality plug?
-
• #72168
Just had a quick google and it seems these plugs are something quite special. I would try ordering them through Ford or maybe just order them online from the US?
Maybe you could use the standard plugs from a Mk1 Focus RS?
-
• #72169
Yeah - I might need to look into the Mk1 RS, a shame they weren't imported to Aus though so could be stuck with ordering from the US. I might just order 12 of the things to save on postage, that way they'll last for another 150k (if I keep the car that long!) and I'll be able to offload them easy on the bay.
I'm not sure if the plugs themselves were actually used in any car as a stock item, I think they were produced by Motorcraft just for the mod market. I don't want to be pedantic, but everyone raves about them and only them, so they must be something special.
Edit: email sent to Ford AU with all the different part number formats I've gathered. Let's see if they get back to me with a "lol no."
Edit2: dealer contacted me and indicates that the part number doesn't show up in "the system" and cannot be ordered. Looks like I have to go to the US and A to order it.
Edit3: ordered through C-F-M and just took the hit for postage. Added a couple more bits too. Came out to AUD30 inc. postage for a set of 4...these better do well! -

Is using some sort of strap to carry a folded up bike workstand on my back a good idea?
Thinking if I do I can ditch the trailer.
