Why can't they just sell SIM cards though. Throwing away a phone just to get the SIM out of it is stupid.
Might just make do with leeching wifi. Haven't got time for SIM APN CDMA DVDA bullshit

Which one, moderators, trainers, popcorn or football?
-
• #72104
Yeah, way to end up with a £50+ data bill...
-
• #72105
Popcorns, trainers? You?

• #72106
N5 works fine over in the US. Buying SIM cards is a ballache over there though.
Go to a three shop and buy a pay as you go SIM

Not sure where you're going but leeching wifi was super easy in New York. Still managed to rack up £50 data charge forgetting to turn mobile data off before switching out of flight mode getting off the plane though :(

Trainers thread is an utterly guilty pleasure.

Soon as screen is scrolled it fixes itself.
hmmm, not on mine, but it doesn't do it all the time either. one of those things that can leave me unfazed for most of the time but drives me crazy when I'm in a mood or a hurry.
Its purely a chrome fault when run on Mac. No issues with other browsers.

California. There was plenty of wifi in town but I like to nerd up on the road and stuff - I'm a curious cat and I need my questions answered quicksmart.
Might have a wander into a Three store if there's any nearby.

My seatstay bridge is a tiny bit too high to allow my brakes to grab my rim. We're talking a few millimetres only. Is my best option to get a long drop calliper, or is there a bodge I can do to lower my existing calliper?
(and if it's the former, does anyone want to swap a standard 105 rear brake for the long drop equivalent?)
-
• #72113
Tektro or Shimano medium reach will do (47-57mm reach if it's only a few millimetres).

Be careful with that.

Here ia a bodge http://www.sheldonbrown.com/home-drop.html
-
• #72116
I like the bodge. Not sure if there's gonna be enough room to allow bodge and mudguard. Must do some thinking.
-
• #72117
Depends what you mean by a few millimetres, if it is literally only 2-3 mm I would be tempted to extend the slot for the brake pad by that amount using a small round file.
-
• #72118
Ooo, that could be an ace bodge. Will look closer tonight - roughly bunging the pads on lost night and the brake wasn't centred, it looked like one pad was just about ok on the rim, and the other was kind of half on the rim, half rubbing the tyre.

in a rush to help find a bike, something new from a cycle to work participating retailer. Up to £1000 for the marked price but cheaper bikes considered.
Small-Average height female. 5'3" (I think)
The Smallest Whyte Devon (47) fits.If it includes mudguards that is a nice bonus. We do expect disc brakes. Looking at Whyte Devon so far which has TRP HyRd's. But cable ones would do. Not sure about BB7's because they require too much regular fiddling.

Do bar plugs come in another really small size(15mm ish)? If so where do you buy them?
-
• #72123
These are nominally for 16mm ID bars but I've just measured mine and they are actually 15mm
http://www.ratcliffesofleigh.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s311p1341May also have been sold branded RSP, but I can only find the 19mm ones.

I need a seat post clamp bolt for this frame. It looks to be ~32mm outside to outside. What are my options? Thanks.

Gotta replace the old brakes on the folding bike. Options appear limited. Must be insanely large drop with clearance for balloons on 20" rims + old style fenders. Preferably a set that doesn't double the value of the bike...
Dia Compe MX1000, or MX890?
Edit: Or Alhonga?
The majority of US mobile networks used to use CDMA rather than GSM. Since the advent of 3G most countries now use it, including the US, so it's much easier to use your existing phone when you travel.
