Penmachno is also stunning, much more rugged.

It was hard work on fat bikes, others we saw were on more enduro type things. Big fire road climb at the beginning before a wet rocky uphill single track and more technical rockery than coed y Brenin.

That's perfect really. Gotten a bit bored of perfectly sculpted trails and itch for the hardtail whippery once again. Can I find any of these routes on Sustrans?
