I was there today too.....I took a long detour off road to get there, so didn't spend too much time in the woods though. I stopped off at the bottom tea hut for my usual sausage doorstep, then did a couple of ups n downs, before heading home.
Bang on 50 miles, and the weather would have made for some fantastic photos for anyone with a modicum of skill.....I clicked my iPhone a couple of times anyway!

Been riding some trails local to Aberystwyth this week. It's so damn good round here, massive XC loops, crazy descents and I've had some pretty epic crashes too. Haven't even gotten to the dirt jumps yet...
Have ended up in a thorn bush, puddle, a sea of shale and a river (not strictly bike related)
Gonna head to Coed-y-Brenin this Sunday and then bike park Wales next week, feel like I've already seriously pushed myself and I'm real excited to go further.
Tonight's plan is a pretty long night ride ride and sleep in a Bothy, gonna be cold and wet :)

Have you got anywhere to stay near CyB yet? Cae Gwyn is cheap and good, about 2 miles up the main road North from the entrance.

Don't have anywhere to stay but we're only about 40 miles down the road in Aberystwyth so we were just gonna drive up in the morning and back in the eve, provided we can get the roof rack fitted properly.
Don't wanna know what carbon sounds like falling off the back of a car...

We stay at Abergwynant farm when going to Coed Y Brenin.
Have fun there. If you have time also try out Penmachno trails.

What kinda Terrain/distance is it? Day trip or potential weekender with camping?
-
• #7791
Penmachno has two loops. Rocks, lots of them. Probably a day for them both. And about 45 mins from coed y brenin.

Come on man.......

coed y brenin
Holy crap, it looks stunning out there. Technical weekend it is. Ty

Penmachno is also stunning, much more rugged.
It was hard work on fat bikes, others we saw were on more enduro type things. Big fire road climb at the beginning before a wet rocky uphill single track and more technical rockery than coed y Brenin.

That's perfect really. Gotten a bit bored of perfectly sculpted trails and itch for the hardtail whippery once again. Can I find any of these routes on Sustrans?
-
• #7797
They sell trail guides at coed trail centre.
Coed trails are easy to find, all clearly marked penmachno the same

Organising a ride for a downhill day at Rogate in December. Anyone for any gnar?
Epping is very wet, yet lovely, these days...
I took a wrong turn and ended up in a small lake covered by leaves today. First I thought "I will die here" then I started laughing and carried on. I think it was my last mtb trip for this year, unless the ground is frozen.
I don't get why there is nobody making trails and maintaining a solid single track. The forrest is pretty run down in some places and there is a lot of mixed traffic (although no horses today).
