  • So I managed to lock my Kryptonite Evolution Mini and pull the key out in a way, that the discs in the lock are misaligned and I can't reinsert my key.
My bike is now wonderfully locked at a subway restaurant and I can't unlock it.
I have tried flooding the lock with lubricant, wiggling, tapping, anything. Trying to realign the discs with a hairpin.. nothing.
Now my beloved bike is sleeping outside.

Any idea how to get this open? I have come to terms with the fact that I probably need a new lock, as my dad is trying to find a suitable bolt cropper, but I wouldnt like to resort to such methods...

  • That sounds odd. Can you not insert the key one disc at a time, rotating a little each time?
If you have a spare key, try that. It's possible that the key you use daily has become twisted, but that would cause a problem unlocking, not simply inserting the key...

  • I've had this with mine and just inset as far as it will go, turn till it aligns with the next disc and pops down more, twist till I find the next... Hope you sort it.

  • I can't reinsert my key.

I used to have this problem with my mini evo. The problem for me was... something to do with the sleeve, I think?

I can't find my d-lock so I can't explain exactly what it was, but something on the outside would become misaligned, and would need to be slid back into place, and then when that was done, the lock would be usable again. Just like you're describing, it feels like the lock has jammed.

Check that none of the plastic bits have slipped into misalignment and then try again. Good luck!
