I really fancy one of these. Are they discontinuing the skx007 for these though?
-
• #17616
Apparently so. The J models are already difficult to find.

It's not discontinued, despite what hodinkee say. Creation watches still carry them (for now) but the new ones look pretty tasty.
The reason I chose the SKX007 in the first place was bikes.
The crown at 4-o-clock doesn't dig in to your wrist when riding and the case is very curvy in general, which is comfortable. Also, legibility is unsurpassed. Submariners have more shite on their face than Veronica Moser and I don't like their hands one bit. -

^ this is why I like pilots. Yeah, I know where the hours are on the face, but it takes me no time at all to register with big legible numbers, and sometimes with a diver I have to look twice to make sure I didn't misread it. Which is why I've never really got why people love divers. Maybe I'm just a bit slow... ;)

These are nearly exact copies of the 80's 6309-7040/7049, apart from the newer style black reversed second hand.

My wealthy watch collector friend just drew my attention to this:
http://www.christies.com/salelanding/index.aspx?intSaleID=25599
Guide price $1m. He's tempted, the lucky fella. He set a world record for a watch sold at auction a few years back. He has a bit of a thing for one off Pateks made for celebrities as he thinks they make good investments. If that is true, The "Emperor Selassie" could be a good buy.

• #17621
Yeah! I thought you had one of those...

I've been hankering after one of these for a while but I might just wait until those Seikos are out before I make my mind up.

I do like the Dagaz Typhoon but not so sure about the hands. I suppose these could be changed easily.
The Smiths is a beauty isn't it!
Yes, I won't register just to look at something, it's a fucking annoyance and an intrusion and they can fuck off.
