I really hope it wasn't a bomb. The Sinai is a beautiful part of the world with very friendly hospital people. The workers in the hotels, local restaurant owners, cabbies, cleaners etc will be devastated by this. Fingers crossed it was due to a faulty plane but not looking likely.
There is the other conspiracy option though but I'll probably leave that for the conspiracy thread.
And yes, the security at Sharm is a bit of a joke. Having been there many, many times, most of the officials are just standing about smoking, drinking coffee and shouting at one another. It's pretty chaotic but what can be done with a former military airport in the middle of the desert that was never built to handle the massive number of people going through it daily?
