    Okaayy.. so spending public money on tourists who couldn't be bothered to get proper travel insurance is OK, whilst spending tax money on UK residents without private health insurance or loss of income insurance is bad.

  • Practical issue: travel insurance is all very well but it won't get you a flight from somewhere where there are no flights. The flights out will be government arranged repatriations with appropriate security, not scheduled/charter flights.

  • True, but my point was rather the inconsistencies in Tory policies.
    They're OK about helping someone who got stranded in Egypt trough no fault of their own, but also think it's OK to cut benefits to someone who ended up in a wheel chair trough no fault of their own.
