Unfortunately the one you so kindly gave me didn't work - the on-one seatclamp was too tight to take the hanger so I caved and bought a cablehanger-seatclamp combo :( It's just not as slick looking as I would have liked and I haven't found a barrel adjuster for it - probably another trip to Condor. Thanks for the offer of the second, tbh I find canti brakes a bit intimidating from a mechanical standpoint so I might just live with it.
oh and sorry I didn't get back to you about a ride that Sunday. Family stuff meant I had to keep it in town :(
