Track-style sandpaper and vinegar method? Car shampoo? Degreaser?
Avoid car shampoo, it probably leaves a wax deposit. Ordinary soap and water (e.g. washing up liquid), rinse well with clean water.

Was a fellow advertising on here as a track wheel-builder, nice black
things with H Plus rims, somewhere a bit up north I think, good
looking website. Any ideas?Rephrased: where's the best place to get a new handbuilt lightweight double-sided clincher track wheelset for road use on a road frame?

It was probably Varno (V-Sprint) who you saw advertised. Have a little search and there might still be a discount code around.
-

Tnx. It wasn't Varno, but I might go there.
Anyone had exp putting Varno's 120mm hubs on a road spaced bike? Is cold setting the frame the only option?

Just add 5mm of spacers to each side.

Bloody hell! Sorry it took so long to reply but that might just be it!!! This has been in the back of my mind for ages now. I'm off to get the DVD and see how good (or bad) my memory is. This place never ceases to amaze me.

Simple!

Cable ties. I need some releasable ones that dont need poking with a screwdriver, ie with my thumb.
Like this
Except they all seem them to be around the 3-5mm width range. Do they exist in this size?

Where's that thread on frame cleaning / car wax / detailing?
-
• #71962
This one? Seems to have been wiped clean.
-
• #71963
Yeah that's the one, it had loads of good info! Weird.

Not from that thread, but also from JamesNQ: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/12188106/

What width are you looking for?
Go to this link and then choose the width you want using the filters.

Ta, think I found what I need.

Simple!
Or not (soz): I forgot you'll need a longer axle too.

I just moved to Bristol from the big smoke - where can I find chill rides with friendly people? preferably where gears are accepted :)

London :-)

Lots of rides going on, although fewer in winter. Das rad klub do a full moon ride and dropouts do an "east sunday" ride.
I think Roll for the Soul might do some chilled out rides too.
Or come join Bristol South CC ;) -

Oh no! I've ordered from Varno ... ruined. Ruined.
I think I'll cold set actually.

If you ordered Novatec hubs, there's a good chance the axles are already long enough to accommodate spacers, which is a much better idea than bending your frame.

Is there a forum/tester recommended bar tape at the moment? I am consistently out of touch with components and stuff. Must come in black but I can't see that being a problem.

The thick Fizik I have.
Appears I have done something rather silly to my road bike tyres. I was in a hurry to clean and pack the bike up to fly to Majorca and may have absent mindedly dried my tyres with an oily rag.
:-(
I had a few scary moments while I was out there (losing traction, even going up the hills!)
Now when I ride the rollers I can hear them squealing underneath me?!
What's the best approach for cleaning them up again? Track-style sandpaper and vinegar method? Car shampoo? Degreaser?
