Right, so the new frame arrived today. It's got an amazing patina, absolutely perfect, amazing lugs and lovely box lining. That fork crown!!!!! Looks like someones repainted some of the red on the headtube and the lug lining but this does not bother me. Also looks like it may have had a head badge at some stage but it's now missing.
Here are a few distinctly average pics in the fading light. -

No 7ven sorry i dont interesting though, it looks like the remains of some kind of gear braze-on to the left, albeit on the wrong side of the bracket plus that hole! and that number which i can only assume is something to do with the BB as the Hobbs No. is on the rear drop out and starts wth a letter.

What size pins do you need got quite a few in the shop. Hardly ever use them. This thread is inspiring me to make a start on my Raleigh record ace.
On the eroica would 1984 look clip less pedals be acceptable to use. I have an Alan in racing spec these pedals would complete the build. Loving the hobs.

It's the 9.5mm ones that I'm after! Let me know how much you'd like if you can sell me a few?!?
Not sure you'd get away with the Look clipless pedals at Eroica. Pretty sure no one would care though.

I think I have that size. Also why would some pre 87 kit be acceptable and not others. The rule make little sense to me. They already have an exception for aluminium Alan bikes which is good in have a 1980 example. Clip less pedals have been around since 1895!

A friend of mine who has a foot problem has been given dispensation to use clipless next year. He also rides an Alan.

On the subject of cotter pins, are there actually any good new remanufactured ones or are they all basically cheese? All the new ones I've used have been super soft and just mash up compared to the old ones

Nerdy but a compelling and useful read none the less.

All that talk of L'Eroica 'rules' just shows what a load of dickwank it all is. Cool, let's ride a nice old bike. Use whatever parts take your fancy. But don't bloody get any bunting out near me though. Or sodding fairy cakes.
I realise I am a misanthrope btw.

Cheers! The gent I purchased it from is the same gent @Thomo6 got his from and he's got another amazing 56cm Blue Riband track bike that he could be persuaded to part with. Too expensive for me unfortunately at te moment. Got my tickets for Eroica Britannia already. Hope to see you there again?
Yehhhhhhh! I am more than happy to take the blame for this. What a cracking frame. Can't wait to see more pics.
