  • that's a handsome fella. looks big, too

  • I do that every day

  • Guys, I need a plan B for Patch's matted hair... bought the matt spliter as recommended but it took me many attempts to only have this much taken off... she has at least 1o times this much to come off... spoke to the reception at the vet and they said if it keeps getting worse and I can't get it sorted, might have to bring her in and have her udner general anaesthetic to get it shaved... big OTT, no?

So suggestions for plan B and C, please...

  • Battery-powered beard trimmer. £20. It vibrates/buzzes but maybe not so loud as to freak her out.

  • Never used 1 before, it's not gonna cut into her skin if she decides to jump off when the trimmer is on her, is it?

  • No, it's safe. Comes with guards of different height so you don't accidentally shave her bald either.

One like this https://m.boots.com/h5/cat_hub?path=%2Fen%2FGillette-Fusion-ProGlide-Styler-3-in-1-Shave-Trimm-Edge-_1265499%2F&unCountry=uk (obviously don't use the razorblade attachment)

  • Norwegian Forest twins and existing cat seem to have finally made friends.

  • My brother lives in the middle of nowhere at the edge of the alps, and the cats follow them when they go for a walk. This is about 45 minutes walk from the house...

  • cheers, will give this a go. It's becoming obvious that the matted hair makes her quite uncomfortable...

  • Would you like help?

  • are you gonna hold her down so she hates you instead of me?

  • Massively hungover today and not at my best reaction wise. Let the dog out to poop and the cat reached escape velocity. To make matters worse there's been fireworks going off and he hasn't returned. I'm getting worried now. He's soooooo grounded when he comes back.

  • The cat knows I am out for her hair... I have failed tonight.... but human must not give up... beard trimmer it is then... sorry Patch, it's for your own good.

  • We had two long haired persians when I was younger and their fur was always incredibly matted around this time of year, my dad used to use a beard trimmer on them no problem.

  • Can do, will you supply the towel?

  • I will supply a full roast dinner if we can get her hair sorted. Problem is though, if you came round, it'd just be me as she'd just camp outside until you are gone. Nothing personal, just that I am the only human she is comfortable around. She didn't even like my ex that much as he kicked her off the bed and things I don't want to know.

  • dare I ask was it the same beard trimmer for cats and human?

  • Yeah they are the same.

  • If I can help, have learnt that having a pet is a good way of gaining insight in to a person.

  • Knowing my dad it wouldn't surprise me if it was the same!

  • Jimmy on the hunt...
