It's a shame you haven't read the thread, which included evidence of exactly that.
-
• #678
now I'm even angrier.
-
• #679
It would make me angry if it had happened to me, and I am willing to believe that it has happened to others so I am ok with them being angry about it.
-
• #680
I'm pretty chilled out at the mo.
-
• #681
This is a weird thread.
-
• #682
Your a weird thread.
-
• #683
damn beat me to it. I was going to make a spider joke too, but it's gone.
-
• #684
I'd like to apologise for my sarcasm on the last few pages. It's been a slow day.
-
• #685
No you are
-
• #686
A van in my road has this, seems to be the least bad one I've seen
-
• #687
^ Except...
Awaiting the "There should be no such thing as a blind spot" brigade...
-
• #688
yeah apart from the fact it's a van of course, with a sticker designed for a much larger vehicle.
-
• #689
Maybe it's driven by a little person. Don't discriminate
-
• #690
It's a van.
-
• #691
Since when can't van drivers see what's next to them? Does the driver have a neck brace?
-
• #692
Big transit probably does have a blind spot, I imagine? Not as big as a lorry's, but I bet it's still there.
I take no issue with a sign like that, only with shit driving. (And shit cycling.) -
• #693
Have you even evar driven a van?
Blind spots do happen, it's rare and usually down to awkward acutely angled junctions and that sort of thing, but there are occasions when to see properly in a car you'd have to turn your head to see through the back window or a rear passenger window, which you can't do in a van.
Friendly sign is friendly. Van driver just wants me to take care, like I do him/her.
I approve.
-
• #694
i'd feel more charitable if there was a matching sticker slapped on the steering wheel of that van. i'll put cash money on the fact that there isn't. as it stands, it's an abdication of responsibility on the part of the vehicle operator regardless of the tone and can get solidly fucked.
-
• #695
No van driver can possibly claim that slap bang alongside the vehicle is a "blind spot". That's completely dumbass, just turn your head or use the mirror.
-
• #696
What if the sticker is for the driver? Like he/she knows that a small part of the view along that side is obscured so takes longer to look and make sure it's clear before turning or changing lane?
-
• #697
Isn't van driver suppose to be well trained to compensate for this?
-
• #698
Yes, they teach them all the shit excuses to give when they hit someone.

Seen buses with "This bus pulls in frequently." Might as well put "This large red double decker thing operates as a bus."
I've seen no evidence of it either, but doesn't it just make you really fucking angry?
