It's standard to re-measure course after a Comp Record though isn't it? Guess some have come up short before?

Yes, according to the 8 pages (and counting) thread on TTF.

Yes, it's normal to re-measure a course as part of the verification process for a competition record claim.

Yes, comp record claims have been disallowed in the past after courses have come up short on remeasurement.
