Heh, I got bumped from behind while waiting to make a very clearly signalled right turn about a month ago in broad daylight...I'd already been waiting to make the turn about 10 seconds when I got hit! It is a type of accident I am particularly wary of...
Having said this, I've heard of something described as 'back to the barn' syndrome...in bad weather, or in this case bad light people feel the need to rush home, being inattentive and making bad decisions along the way. I wouldn't be surprised if this had more to do with the increase in accidents at this time of year rather than the reduced visibility of darkness (well, what passes for darkness in London) itself.
Got bumped by a car behind today from behind while making a right, which scared the hell out of me and reminded me that plunging from a commute in light to one in darkness is a recipe for disaster. I don't know if this is the right thread, but my brain went straight to the statistical side - accidents last Thursday v. accidents this Thursday. Does anyone have any info, or could point me to something which will I can push around and hopefully help less people get killed?
