I wanted to check whether it was real or if my nan might have been giving me drugs. It must have been Saturday evening TV (when she looked after me and my sis) and I have the faint recollection it was a serial.

I feel stupid for asking, since it's my bike, but not here for me to check ... can anybody tell me /guess at:
What is the bcd of these cranks?
and
What steerer will these forks use, 1&1/8" or 1"? -

Welll. Technically, undead. Risen again.
-
• #71855
104 probably.
and 1 1/8, it's extremely rare naught on impossible to find quality suspension fork with a 1" steerer.
-
• #71856
104 and 64 for the inner, 1 1/8"

my saddle keeps slipping in the new kalloy uno seatpost. No matter how tight I tighten it, the saddle always ends up pointing to the moon by the end of a ride. Is this seatpost just rubbish? I only bought it because my campag one snapped when I was out and I needed a seatpost to get home

kalloy uno seatpost
Which one? They have produced dozens of different designs over the years.

Is it possible to use a left handed (ie, FD triple) shifter for a 3 speed hub?
(Shimano 3S, not Sturmey)
-
• #71861
How likely do you think it is that Shimano use the same cable pull for two different things? I'm pretty sure the accountants used up all the ammo they had against the product designers in a bitter fight to keep road dérailleur cable pulls the same between the SS and GS versions of the RD.

Mmm yea, and I can't use a friction shifter I don't think. But worth the ask, since a good shifter is rocking horse shit, and I'm keen to change bar setup.

Dial ones good for added precision or is the dial just likely to be another source of unreliability?
With convenient timing, NYCCNC has just posted a nice video on metrology for poor people

Has anyone else noticed that most of the vintage Raleigh frames you find for sale are in large sizes? I'd love to own a classic raleigh frame but all the ones I find are size 57 or above. It's wierd.

People were taller in the olden days

More seriously than umop3pisdn, the expectation back then was that you didn't have much seatpost showing.

Does anyone make 31.8mm silver ahead stems these days?
I'm looking for something exactly like the Velo Orange one below which I can't find at any UK retailer.
Only other options seem to be Thomson Elite or Ritchey Classic but both are pricey!

Those were good times.

Awesome, thanks - and I can pick up some MTB rubber for cheaps while I'm there!
-
• #71872
I literally just paid for shipping :'(
-
• #71873
Free shipping to the UK for orders over 250EUR - I'm not sure what you bought but even with that stem and some decent 29er tyres I'm not clearing even half of that threshold.
Shipping is only 6.50 EUR through right?
-
• #71874
yep 5.95 .. I just needed some sidi heel cups and a headset

My arm isn't long enough to indicate how far over my head most of that was so I'll probably just go for another cheap digital caliper and be satisfied at that!
You are dead, right?
Right?
