Think they've only just gone on sale & I'll probably be buying some myself TBH, look fine for the price. Tho I would get the messengers if funds allowed.
Pretty much all cranks are aluminium & pretty much all BB's are steel unless you're heading down the carbon fibre/titanium route so no fail there! -

yes - what are you talking about alu cranks and steel bb spindle being fail

Yes what indeed am I talking about in that case? When an idea gets into the head I suppose...
Thanks for the remarks though, I am going to give these lasco things a try.

Are they any good or what?

Sorry to bring up an old thread but
I bought a set in Black from a different website, although the same as the ones on VS and They are ok, although after about a year of regular use the teeth are already worn down to the point where they are unusable. Good at the start, but I definitely wouldn't buy again. Just picked up a used set of SR Royal Arms and A New Andel Chain Ring from Hilary stone. Much, Much Better

Chainrings aren't made of diamond, they don't last for ever!
Perfect cranks for budget build. Gf has had them on her fixed for 4 years with no issue. -

Do you replaced the chain often? is your chain tensioned properly? is chainline is ok? etc.

Bought a Lasco RBR515 chainring. Terrible quality with lots of milling marks on the inside of the ring. I got it installed with a new chain at my local bike shop, used it for 2 days and the middle ring bent inward trapping the chain and destroying my front derailer. Very poor quality, would definitely not recommend

Dodgy chainring seemed to be the culprit rather than the cranks.
I've seen a set of cranks on velosolo that look good and for which the price is right. Has anyone used thenm at all? They're aluminium, called Lasco and look a lot like Sugino messengers...but are 35 quid instead of 90.
For my budget thats a winner but there's something about aluminium cranks + steel BB that seems to be a bit fail-y.
