Borrowed a DK2 from work a few months ago and despite much excitement was rather underwhelmed by the whole thing. The effect is amazing but the resolution was way too shit, when you actually focus your attention on what's in the middle of your vision it's often not much more than a blur of pixels. Idly looking around in Elite Dangerous was pretty epic, but trying to shoot something ended up being a bit rubbish.
I know the release versions will be use denser screens, but I'm skeptical it'll be enough to make either the Rift or Vive a definite purchase for me.

Underwhelming for fast paced action games, after an hour of Half Life 2 on the DK2 battling motion sickness I just had to stop, although the survival horror games are next level! Combine with good headphones and you'll piss yourself from fear.
Apparently to get the best quality out of Elite Dangerous you'll need at the least a gtx Titan to get to the recommended 75Hz for smooth gameplay.

Overwatch beta scheduled for release later tonight. be interesting to see how blizz handles a 1ps that isn't tied down to a metric butt-load of canon.

I have hovered over the 'buy' button several times for a PS4. Now just decided to wait until No Man's Sky.
There's plenty for me to get through on my Xbone before it arrives...

Has anyone played the new Assasin's Creed yet? Reviews say it's pants - is it actually worse than previous editions? I was quite looking forward to running along my street and sitting on our roof or something.

Not sure what you're reading but all the reviews i've read say it's much better than the last one and one of the best in the series...
Having said that, it's tanked in sales (compared to other AC titles) so give it a couple of weeks and it will be cheap on Amazon etc.

I got AC apathy partway through the first one so I can only imagine how people feel who've played one every year.

The 1st and 2nd were truly great games. Black Flag was also a lot of fun... the others though.

I've tried a few of them. Never finished one. I do like the idea of running around historic London though. How legit is the map? I'd be tempted to drop the cash just for the historical wanderings. But I suspect it's some sort of Amerika-like oddness.

I really struggled with AC1. I did put 10 or so hours into Black Flag actually and that was kinda fun. Didn't love it though.
From what I've read the new one looks good, might pick it up on the cheap.

Yeh just put my name in, hopefully get a slot.
Need a game I can pick up and put down, looks like it could be it

Thanks. I have to admit it was the Metro (games sites are blocked at work) but it said the parkour was a bit rubbish - different to previous games.
I've enjoyed the previous ones mostly because of the running around in historic locations/shooting a cannon. They always give me a slightly warm feeling - almost as if I was in Rome and it's nice and sunny - same in Black Flag. I've always played them a year or so later (so cheap) so I might look at the civil war one first and then have a go on this when it's half the price.
