The 28mm takes some working around - sometime when you can't get close enough you just have to shoot with space around the subject, and on snap focus. Then you can work quite fast.
There are still some of the GR digital version 1s in stock. AFAIK they are exaclty the same as the 2s minus wifi (and £200 cheaper).
Yeah, you can get a used GR for £300. I'm tempted to get one and then stick an EyeFi card in it. I doubt I would use the camera remote much, but the wifi and phone transfer stuff would be useful. I'm just one of those people with nagging thoughts of futureproofing in my head.
