Certainly interesting to read about the Women's specific stuff.

Just spend £2000 on a carbon Trigger instead.
WHAT COULD GO WRONG?

@BareNecessities that Trail 3 would be perfect if it was available in a small - I'll have to research some similar offerings, or maybe even take the medium for a test ride.
@Howard what size is your stuff?
@606 you've intrigued me now as I ride a 26" Inbred hard tail - as my first and only MTB I'm very happy with it. I'll need to have a spin on someone else's bike to see what I'm missing. :)

Don't tempt me with such things.
Could take that and give my current bike to my girlfriend.
Everyone's happy.

Yup! I had toyed with the idea of getting some about 5 years ago and put the high price tag down to the fact that 29er parts were still relatively niche, but they've yet to drop in price!
Though I guess the demand is higher than ever these days.

Stop trying to make your bike look normal. Mick.

Soooo what do people think of the Beast of the East? Was looking at this one:
http://www.cannondale.com/uk_gb/2016/bikes/mountain/trail/beast-of-the-east/beast-of-the-east-36
Just want something to shred around Epping/Swinley/Peaslake on and it looks pretty fun.

• #7770
Looks good to me, depending on how much it'll cost you I'd say go for it.
Looking to buy a complete and not tempted to build something like a cotic up?Nothing in swinley or Epping that cannondale couldn't handle but it probably still pedals nicely.

Curious it has the AI offset rear wheel, when the alu F-SI does not.
Looks like fun tho

I want to buy his n hers beast of the easts
Look good with the lefty but want to see how @howard gets on with his
In other news it looks like I have either sprained a joint in my foot or broken a bone in a low speed tumble today in Wales. Problem was at a&e I needed a dr to refer for X-ray but he was in surgery and the X-ray department was going to be closed by the time he finished doing the operation. So have to wait until tomorrow for X-ray now.

i was ideally trying to make use of bits i have round the house
i have nice 3x9 xt shifters
i have a nice 9 speed rear block
i have a 9 speed rear mech but it's a bit twisted ( probably needs a new one ) and have an slx front 3x mech ( again a bit bashed ) ...but
i thought a i was setting up the rock lobster i might get a little spendy on it and get some nice new bits
spoke to skinny erics mtb guru ! and he said don't bother with 3x as you never really use most of the gears, slx or xt were best value for money
now looking at this
http://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-xt-m785-transmission-groupset-sale-85893.htmlblack parts to match the rock lobster

Bargain! Doubles always seem easier to set up, in my experience; they also tend to behave better in the gloop.
The BTR is kind of taking that short stem thing to the extremes really :-)
There's really not much difference in 'women's geometry' bikes. A lot of what manufacturers have done is fit lighter shock springs, narrower bars, thinner grips, etc... and then wrap it all up in a rubbish colour scheme.
Should I buy a women’s specific mountain bike?
Having gone through the process of speccing my girlfriend's mtb, I'd say just go for what fits, regardless of gender specificity OR wheel size.
if Dom's girlfriend has got on well with riding his mtb, then use that as a way of figuring out what to get.
