Shit, that would be awesome Neil!
Thanks. -

Reckon there's any point trying to set up my PX (training bike) rear derailler as Di2?
I'm guessing not that many people would have a single TT shifter pod to sell so the only cost saving would be from leaving the cabled front derailler in place, right?
This is my answer to replacing a frayed gear cable. Of course, thinking about this change makes me think I should alter the cockpit to better match my race bike setup, which then makes me think 'fuck it, I may as well buy another Shiv' and then I come back down to Earth reality and think maybe just the shifter(s) and bars first...
What would Jesus do?

Full Ultegra di2 gearset.
Means spares for the race bike too.

• #1155
How much for the PX?

back in the day you could get 6770 stuff crazy cheap but 6870 isnt too bad; have a look here: http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=13&search=6870

• #1157
That's even more spendy though. I don't need spares - if anything breaks it's race over.
-
• #1158
It's a collector's item now so £10-15k but being a sellers market where demand for Bikes As Used By The Hippy are commanding 5-figure prices it could go sky-high at auction.

I don't want any of the old stuff. It needs to be whatever series is compatible with my 11spd DA.
Looks like I'd have to buy it individually - they don't seem to sell a TT setup - it's all road levers and shit.

6870 from Germany is your answer.

6870

I only need a single TT shifter, rear derailler, battery, box, cables though.
I don't do anything technical enough to need shifters on the brakes.
£936 is more than the bike cost. I do probably need a new BB though so that's only £900 left to justify...

Oi Specialized, how about you send me a new Shiv?!

Then don't buy the whole group?

"Looks like I'd have to buy it individually"
"6870 from Germany is your answer."
-
• #1165
Yes so what you need is junction box A and B, internal battery, couple of SD50 cables, RD and TT shifter FROM GERMANY. See what that totals at £££.

You mean 9 speed?
:)
-
• #1167
Yeah, my point was I looked and didn't find any individual TT bits, just the road stuff or full TT group.
-
• #1168
They don't call them "TT" or "time trial" shifters, they call them 'additional' shifters.
Silly Germans.http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=35016;menu=1000,4,38;page=3

I havent done TT so I'll look into shifters but the rest you can buy individually.
What shifter set up do you need? Do you need shifter on start bar/brake lever? -
• #1170
It's still 11spd. I'm probably going to run a totally untested 9spd w/ Raltech cover setup in the USA in 2 weeks because it will allow me to use the anti-crush pole of my bike case through the spokes. It'll mean I have to fit the covers and cassette over there before the race. Basically, I'm going over there to DNF Mechanical...

Yeah, I got 539 without postage. ~£400 plus whatever hell it takes me to fit it.
-
• #1174
postage is free and DIY its Di2, cant be any easier .. dont you work in IT?
Check the frame compatibility for internal set up first, holes and BB area to pass the RD cable and shove the junction box in TT .. also seatpost battery will need some packing material and zip ties. All do-able though. Are you doing a 1x11?
If you are going to order pls let me know I need something small from them but dont want to pay postage ;)

Drilling holes in my frame != software engineer.
It'll be 2x11 with the front derailler cable-operated.
"postage is free"
I've got both a 9070 and a 6870 long cage, we could experiment - I doubt we'd need to destroy either of them in the process. Or, rather, if destruction looked likely we could stop.
I would imagine that the cage itself, if the swap works, could be obtained as a spare part, or an equivalent part obtained.
