  • Does anyone make wide, relatively light 26" rims for rim brakes, or is there something vintage I should look out for?

  • The great thing about 26" rims is that they're already reasonably light.

    The XM317 is reasonably light, got double wall and eyelit.

  • Not massively wide though. Looking around, I always though my d521 was hugely porky, but it turns out it's not too bad at 580g, considering how indestructable it is. Was considering the benefits of those fancy new compass tyres and am struggling to see how you'd make the most of a 55mm tyre on a 21mm internal rim.
