Thanks. Was fun.
I have the same regrets as you, spent the final 3 laps chasing a group of 3 ahead, couldn't never quite get back on terms with them.

I didn't win. Or come close.
Good to see you.
-
• #3904
Likewise - I'll try and catch some of your racing in the later rounds. Grupetto kit looked sharp!

I didn't win.
I also didn't win, or even come close, and was stalked throughout the race by a small child, but I was only lapped by @Jon. once, which was a small victory in my book.
Had to sprint the final straight on penultimate lap to keep him from lapping me again though.
Many, many megawatts needed for that circuit

• #3907
I'd tell you how many watts if it wasn't for my fucking Garmin.

• #3908
Fenix and SRM reckoned I averaged 90pc of FTP

Also, comedy moment in the Vets race - chap remounting after running the double whoop u-turn thing blows his rear tub off the rim then proceeds to stop on the racing line to try to re-mount it with I assume 25psi or whatever still in it. Needless to say it did not work.

Good close racing today.
Not the start I'd hoped for as someone in front of me crashed trying to hop the barriers ahead of me on the first lap and caught my rear brake sending the pad underneath the rim. Luckily I sorted it pretty quickly and gaps at that point were pretty small so I didn't expend too much energy getting back to the front.
It got pretty tactical in the last few laps and we slowed down a fair amount. The one big disadvantage of single speed on a course like today is it limits where you can attack (and you'll never win a sprint, but that's not going to happen with me anyway) but I managed to clip in straight after the barriers on the hill, went for it and got enough of a gap.

• #3911
Well done Jon. I'm very impressed you won on that course on singlespeed.
-
• #3912
Yep, it'll be a 30 minute race.
Agreed, I could do both.

While it can seem a barren featureless place, the good thing about Addington Park is that we can modify the course each time. I enjoyed it more than the Summer Series yesterday, the softer ground meant less bumpy ground and more technical corners.
Thanks all for coming at such late notice!

Thanks @leggy_blonde and all of the VCL volunteers.
Good things come to those who wait!
-
• #3915
I much preferred it and it didn't seem that different, I think it's more likely my fitness improved!
-
• #3916
Thought it was a good a course, fast and fun. Thank you! The little kicker on the first corner was especially lol worthy, holding out for someone catching a snap of the rad-air I grabbed on it each lap.
-
• #3917
It was good and very autumnaly picturesque. Did you arrange that too?
-
• #3918
Well the park was designed by Capability Brown when it was part of the Addington Palace estate so an October dry race was always going to be beautiful. I'm glad it didn't rain!
-
• #3919
Well there you go, you learn something new everyday.
-
• #3920
It was really good. Tough and no resting allowed.
Thanks VCL for yet another good weekend of pain. -
• #3921
@leggy_blonde thanks for organising - great course. Quick getting the results up as well!
-
• #3922
Indeed fantastic weather yesterday, and while I am really not suited for courses which require a lot of power output, I did enjoy myself, and did better than expected, had some nice battles with other riders, and only got lapped by @andyp once! Thanks for organising @leggy_blonde
-
• #3923
I'm not suited for any course, it was an hour of pure pain, hilly u turn thing was good fun! thanks VLC!!
-
• #3924
I'll second all of that. Absolutely fantastic afternoon.
What options do I have for a 130BCD 5 bolt 10 speed narrow wide chainring that's cheaper than the Absolute Black?
-
• #3925
Superstar keep saying they are going to produced 130bcd rings but I've yet to see one.
I've never used NW for CX, the roller-clutch derailleur does the job without one.
Probably that really fast @biarittz fella who was so quick he finished half an hour before the rest of us.
