These are really good! Frank is a photographers' dream! How was the show?
-
• #11009
cheers!
Show was awesome, second time seeing them in that venue (Star & Garter). It's the perfect setting for that kind of show. Much stage diving, much crowd-surfing. Very sweaty. They're playing there again tonight.

More #JapanSpam.
This was taken at Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto at sunset as the paper lanterns were lit up for the evening. -

Rad!! I saw them at the album release show in London a few months back. Absolutely blew me away!! Frank is definitely back on form with this band.

definitely, angry Frank is the best Frank. I wasn't in to Pure Love at all.
It helps that 'The Rattlesnakes' are rad too, especially Memby on drums.

..been there a while (on society6), have not sold a single picture,
but have bought one, and have to say the print quality on that matte paper is really fucking good. -

I sold a postcard the other day...
...not on society 6. 😀

I took some photos of Deafheaven playing at the Star and Garter on their first UK tour, came out alright. The lead singer had a proper einsatzkommandos vibe going on. Pity about the music really.

p.s. the above photo was taken on a GF1, but I'm finding it a pain to carry around.
What the current go-to compact camera for jersey pockets / jacket pockets / EDC use? I really like the look of the Ricoh GRD but I'm a sucker for good looks.

Love it!
I'm a fan of Deafheaven but never managed to catch them live.

Currently stuck between a Sony RX100 mkII and a Canon G7x. Really liked the Panasonic LX100 but it's just too big to justify getting as a pocketable camera. It's also about £200 steeper than the other two.
They are basically the same in price and size. Similar features. Same sensor. Canon seems to have better zoom, Sony seems to have better video and battery. Not a huge difference otherwise. Bit stuck.

Still too big really, and I have no need for interchangeable lenses with this camera.
Actually, having had a look, the GR II is what I want. Now how to get one at the US price of $560 in the UK, where the RRP is £599

i had the same dilemma, eventually chose the g7x. Battery life i don't find an issue - you can carry a spare if you really think you need to. I don't take video either. I prefer the canon controls and find it less fiddly. it also gives you a wider angle and better zoom as you've mentioned.
most people will tell you go with the sony. both will be a great; try them both then flip a coin.

Nice shot! The GR is what you want.
The 28mm takes some working around - sometime when you can't get close enough you just have to shoot with space around the subject, and on snap focus. Then you can work quite fast.
There are still some of the GR digital version 1s in stock. AFAIK they are exaclty the same as the 2s minus wifi (and £200 cheaper).
Yes, but we can't be too sure that he was totally ok with the content.
