  • Do you mean the PT Jacket? Because there is a pretty massive difference between the jersey and the soft-shell.

I think the PTJ is probably warmer and maybe a touch more waterproof, and the softshell would be more suited to faster paced rides

  • Yeah, jacket not jersey, thanks.

I like the green but won't like it when it's covered in road smeg that won't wash out, will I? So that means boring grey... Meh.

Also, sizing of pro team stuff compared to Gabba?

  • Pro team jacket is great, very warm though

  • Easy to forget in deep winter that every bit of exposed skin feels freezing, I personally have the Craft Extreme base layers.

  • I should really just keep my powder dry for the soft shell then... first hill I hit I'll melt back down it.

  • Birthday cash rounded up: PT Winter hat or new Deep Winter one with reflective goodness? Mouse button is hovering ....

  • The eBay outlet had the green PT winters for £20 last week

  • Old PT Winter Hat is a different design to the newly improved one.

  • I've had various feedback on the new design but for looks I really like the none PT one. I'm told the fit is better in the new one and i'm less likely to overheat in it

  • So hop in a time machine and go grab yourself one?

  • Merino, synthetic, or either? With built-in hood or not? Don't see the point personally. Buff would be fine too.

Craft and Arcteryx for synthetic. Helly Hansen's warmer ones are a merino / synthetic mix.

  • if you like gabba and it fits just get a PT (mesh), merino and PT winter base layer to go with it so you have spring, autumn and winter covered. You could save money on PT (mesh) and Merino as other brands make them.

  • Any alternative to the rapha waterproof over mitts?

Just gog back from a ride through driving hale, and hands suffered horribly.

    Not 1100 kroner horribly though

  • I thought the PT softshell was most water/wind proof, and PTJ was more insulating?

But you already knew that, right?

    and ^, yeah, probably

  • Have some nice pogies for the fatbike.

I was thinking more squeezing a few more weeks out of the road season.

I have lobster gloves. But if it doesn't rain, they're overkill. So something modular.

  • Could just get these....

I have di2 sprint shifters, and the front switch of each lever works the front mech. I could shift in boxing gloves.

.......... Which are probably nice and warm..... Hmmmmmm.....

  • Pro team race cape is totally waterproof and wind proof. Once ive rode with it for 4 hours in the rain, upper body is toally dry.

  • @MicroDosed™ Thanks

@ChrisMGS With a hood like the one in the link, not sure on what material. I presume merino will be more expensive so not really that fussed to be honest. I suffer from feeling the cold more than others and can see a hood being useful this winter.

  • I don't have any hooded ones myself, and the ones I have tried on always seem restrictive (too tight etc). You can just Google "hooded base layer", or try something with a high collar and then use your choice of Buff. It'll be better than a base layer with a hood. Synthetic moves moisture better but will smell after one use and need washing / merino is better for slower riding or multi-day trips or stop/start rides. Icebreaker stuff is a weird fit, so would avoid.

  • Before I go down the classifieds>e-bay>annoyed route, would anyone here be interested in a Rapha+Paul Smith rain jacket (M) , polka dot hat (S) and silk scarf combo?

I also have two hardly worn R+PS caps (the purple one and the pink one) in small from the subsequent summer collection if anyone's interested?

Edit Polka Dot hat and scarf are sold.

  • PT Winter hat + 2 x black bidons ordered. Will post thoughts on hat when it arrives and gets some use. In true fashion, weather will be too mild for it to be worn until next year now,

  • Super Lightweight Jerseys and other bits in normal (medium) sizing on the ebay store-also women's rain jackets... Just shopped a lightweight for myself for 45 beans.

  • really pleased with the phinney jersey for £45, like the reflective details. Bargain.

  • PT Winter hats in green on the ebay store for £20.
