  • Tim's out the door, Moreen's lost that little battle as well.

  • Woohoo!

Sherwood's out. Proper manager now please, Randy.

  • Now watch sherwood slide down the divisions. What a joke. Qualifications for job? Eh...passion. But what if passion really means that lack of ability to control ones emotions when leading a group? Hope villa are still fucked though

  • Just came to post that, sadnotsad!
Sherwood should have never taken that job, spend a couple of years in the championship/league one and find out if you can actually coach, if the coaching badges you have, and the ideas that you have, about how football should be played, mean that you'll be able to coach football players in the real world, rather than just in your head.
Premiership is too cutthroat right now for you to make mistakes, have a bad run, when there's so much money to be lost through relegation, and Villa, like Sunderland are into that realm of instability, and lacking any sort of structure, as they grasp for instant changes and results, so they can keep sucking at the milky monied goodness of the premier league teat...

Wonder if his mates Les and Chris down at Qpr give him a safe landing out in west london..

  • @Ramsaye, @roboto, eight unbeaten eh! hows Clement bedding in? Looking like a decent manager?

  • There's a bit more than passion.

He was working hard, and ever since results slipped, he was working even harder.

  • Oh shit, is the Guardian reporting on it? We were hoping to just get on with our business quietly. ;)

Clement is doing a fine job. It's not just 8 unbeaten. It's only one loss in the league all season. We started slowly, but that was to be expected with a new manager and quite a few new players. Clement seems to favour the 'don't lose' approach instead of the McClaren 'win or nothing' approach that turned round to bite us at the end of the last two seasons.

The main reason behind the results so far is our midfield though. Thorne is back to fitness and running our matches and Bradley Johnson is immense at this level and is the sort of player we missed last season. Pair that with Martin being given the armband for the last few games (Baird can't force his way back into the team at the moment) and it's looking good at the iPro at the moment.

Anyway, enough of our recent good fortunes. How is everyone else's team doing? Not heard much about Villa or Chelsea recently. Is the gegenpress working at Anfield?

  • nah, was just checking on QPR to see if Chris Ramsay was still in charge, saw they'd won at MK and were ten points off the top of the championship, then noticed Derby had won, and were 8 games unbeaten, and having spoken about Sherwood needing to drop a league and actually figure out if he was able to manage a football team, thought I'd check in to see how a long term no.2 was doing being the main man at Derby. Also think Clement is a wonderful story and hopefully, if he does well, more young coaches will head overseas, maybe not to as glamorous and high profile clubs as he has been, but more british coaches in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy, France can't be a bad thing..

  • Not heard much about Chelsea recently

Not surprising really, its their worst start in their 12 year history

  • Do you remember that graph and points and thing Clive posted about Liverpool when they were doing badly?

    Gegenshadenfrauden
    ?

  • The change in results from draws to wins seems to coincide with Kevin Philips joining the coaching staff. Seems he knows how to get from playing nice passes around outside the box to nipping in and getting a goal.

  • I love Kevin Phillips.

  • Please be Garde. Not Moyes or Rodgers or Pearson or ....

@cornelius_blackfoot - Tim will be lucky to get another job after this shambles. He knows nothing. A truly horrific last 10 games. He needs to work as an assistant to someone who knows how to set up a team and react in game and learn some craft. >>>>>>>>>>(there aren't enough)

  • Qualifications needed for premier league manager

    1. Passion
    2. Hard work (whatever that means)

Qualifications needed for championship manager (the game)

    1. Passion
    2. Games console or PC

Does this mean if I work hard I could get a job at Villa?

  • Start off and see how you get on. If it's disastrous, just keep working hard and if possible, work harder.

If you aren't winning, you probably need more goals (you need quite a lot of tactical awareness to understand this). Therefore, if you play two strikers and three attacking midfielders, you will win.

    If that fails, work harder.

  • I tend to get emotional and almost cry when I lose. will this be a problem?

  • Really glad to see big George Thorne back and playing well. Would like to see him make it in the prem

  • No. It's the media's problem for not understanding you.

  • There'll be a job at Leeds soon, passion seems to be a big selling point there, so you'll be fine.

Failing that, there's always Azerbeijan, or the Thailand national team.

  • I really hate that word passion that they put in job specs.
Must have a real passion for technology and a desire to succeed etc. Really gets on my nerves.
I don't have much passion for it, it's my fucking job I do it because it enables me to mostly avoid humans who I dislike slightly more than computers and get paid well.

  • @clintsmoker

But are you a proper football man? Do you know when to put an arm around someone or a rocket up them? how about dealing with them 'forruns eh? Do you live and breath it? Are you willing to forgo all personal commitments to watch 3rd division Dutch football on a dodgy feed? DO YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO SIGN RONALD'S SHORT FAT COUSIN ON THE STRENGTH OF A FEW KEEPUPS ON A BLURRY VID?

I'm not sure you have what it takes.

  • passion seems to be a big selling point

Don't you just have to willing to take a backhander?
