Steel is real, and I become a carbon slave.

Weight weenie. That is quite a task you.have set yourself. When you get the stem, for e.g. you might be always thinking, ah, I bet there is something lighter than this. Would it be possible for you to get to 5.5 kg on race bike without spending that much?

I probably should rephrase the title, not weight weenie but lightweight racing bike. For the cockpit, I avoid to use carbon parts, or like the crankset I rather stay with track one with 1/8 chain than a carbon road crankset with 3/32 chain.
Most of the parts are like new second handed, it may not be that expensive as people think. So far I spent about 1600 on the race bike.
5.5kg is achievable when this bike in "climbing mode". -

That interests me the idea of Crit machine!
Why to have chosen two seta? -
• #7
I love my seta, and it's a good compromise that can be used to long miles and racing, but if i was building up a specific crit bike i don't know if it'd choose it, as it's not very stiff. Still a great light bike though.

Seta is always my dream machine when I start riding fixed gear.
Saw the bargain deal on ebay, so I was thinking why not have two. :D -
• #9
Yes, it is a bit flexy but responsive, should do well in hill climb and technical crit race. I think Parallex or new steel tubing like HSS spirit would feel better on riding a high constant speed.

there were lightweight setas some years ago on lfgss
mine came easily down to 6.2 with heavy wheels, front brake and sram omnium in size 58
-
• #11
If I'd kept my Seta frame it would have been 5.3kg. You could easily get sub 5.5kg.

Just bought a ec90 fork, will get down to 5.7kg I think.
Your vigo looks very nice, especially with the MofoXprez sticker. Want some more? :D

This 30-40quids worth wheelset is surprisingly smooth as butter, may do that later.

You're welcome @ccc092003 good to see you again mate! Catch up soon!
Bought the first on from here half a year ago, and got the second one from ebay few days before.
I have decided to build them up, one will be a lightweight crit/hill racing bike, another one will be a daily commuter bike.
Just make a part list and weight for both bike.
