I ended up with a cheap cleaver from theasiancookshop.co.uk
Really happy with it, factory edge is crazy sharp compared to my knackered cheap knives. Sure a little finessing on the diamond stone will get it perfect. Would have preferred a wooden handle but can't complain at the price. Now after a little something for LadyLiz as she's got into making sushi lately. Is there a consensus on a really good all-round small knife?

Does anyone have dive knife experience? Looking for something with mollusc picking capabilities yet not too crocodile Dundee like most look right now.
Thanking you -

No experience but 2 mins on ebay found this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wenoka-Diving-Knife-9093-w-Sheath-Flat-End-Hammer-On-Handle-6-Blade-Japan-/221859990483?hash=item33a7e2cbd3
Still shiny but a bit less zombie apocalypse.

I don't know what it is about being on holiday that makes you spend what you wouldn't at home but I just bought this NOS 50s K-Sabatier chefs knife. Excuse the flash staining from chopping red onions for tea.

That's lush. How long is it?
I have a very similar one that comes from Thiers, I love the red wood handle. I think it is rosewood?

14", very well balanced thanks to the chunky spine and bolster. Handle I think is rosewood, might have to go back and ask. I brandished a few other vintage blades but this one felt so much better in the hand, cool shop, bad website. http://bernalcutlery.com

The spring the the scissors of my leatherman style cs snapped (still worked just meant you had to lift after each cut) sent it to leatherman and a week later a brand new one came...pretty slick customer service

Fuck off.

Seriously though, those leatherman braclets look like the type thing those guys would "rock". IMO if you have a job / life-style which requires one, then you'd just have a SAK or leatherman on you.
In other news here is my Laguiole from my French godfather. It lives in France and unfortunately although it's beautiful it doesn't get much use as it's a bit heavy and doesn't sit comfortably in any pockets.
https://www.flickr.com/gp/50069836@N08/71M3f9I keep meaning to find a nice sheath so I can carry it on a belt, but in the end buying a Opinel No. 8 was easier.... savoir faire and all that.
