7 points from the remaining 3 games might do, 9 points definitely will.
I'll put money on them not going through though.

I think a point should be enough.
Anybody else going to Munich?

really needs to be stopped.
The FA have other things to focus on like their own integrity for one. While Dyyke remains, can we really believe in the honesty of anything they do or say, their appointments, their cup draws, their refereeing and their disciplinary procedures?
As you say, it will be dismissed on appeal and so it is wrong.

In short, England will most likely lose a CL spot for the 18/19 CL season if their teams don't match what the Italian teams are doing. Based on the performance of the last 2 seasons they don't have a hope.
Liverpool and to an extent Arsenal treating the CL like the League/FA cup certainly doesn't help. Don't get me started on the respect English teams show towards the EL.

Chelsea can do no wrong remember. It's always somebody else's fault

I'm glad we will lose a place so fourth place is no longer a barometer for success.
As a Liverpool fan I couldn't give a shit as we are unlikely to ever qualify for it again.
I wish they would just make it a competition for the winners of their respective leagues. You know 'The Champions League' A radical idea I know -

Yeah. 9 points is a tough ask. Never know though...

I'd vote for this.
A league with a play-off to determine the winner. 10 teams home and away makes 18 rounds (adjust number of teams to best fit the calendar). Top 4 into the semifinal (or 8 to Qfinals, or top 6 with a qualifying round for the Semis). 2 or 3 divisions, relegation and promotion for the represented leagues. -

Give it 10 years and the English league structure will be shot of those shithouse teams at the top of the pyramid.
-
• #119789
We could probably stop football then.
-
• #119790
Fuck; Liverpool would come 3rd every year.
-
• #119791
With the extra place available for winning the Europa league, would think suddenly English teams would be paying it a bit more respect.

Jaw, of the English coefficient, what percentage has been contributed by Chelsea?
-
• #119793
It should be the equivalent of what Middle England has contributed in the last general election.
-
• #119794
still high from 2012 clive ?
-
• #119795
No need for a question mark dicki. And, curiously enough, 2013. Winning the Europa League gained English sides a very significant lift in coefficient.
-
• #119796
Nothing gets the red hot blood of English fans flowing like a decent bit of banter about coefficients. Except maybe net spend.
Fucking yawn.
We're better than this.

• #119797
i think you'll find we aren't

All of these years while we have been celebrating the demise of the hopes of other English clubs, Mourinho was warning about the coefficient. It is, in financial terms, of huge importance to the English game.

@cliveo I'd have to look that up but in a nutshell the two wins have made sure that the PL stays ahead of Serie A for another season. Over the last two seasons they've managed to get more points with less teams which kind of says it all.
Also, I think you could be wrong about the importance of qualifying for the CL. Wenger and Rodgers have started to treat it like a nuisance, much like the milk cup.
Too much money floating around in the self styled greatest league in the world is what I'm blaming it on. Not much longer before they start calling the winner world champions like the NBA/MLB/NFL/NHL.

Christ this is duller than seeing Mourinho's attempts to divert attention from his under performing team by attacking refs at every opportunity.
Well yeah, none of that is wrong but the weeks of arguing from pundits is normally over an interpretation of a rule rather than the mechanics of what actually happened.
There is plenty of time wasted faffing around in the aftermath of a contentious decision in football so I can't see a brief update for the ref from someone backstage would make much difference.
